Qualtrics Strikes $6.75B Deal to Acquire Health-Tech Firm Press Ganey / Forsta

The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has issued a stop use alert for two additional syrups Relife and Respifresh TRafter tests found them adulterated with toxic chemicals linked to child deaths.

Glimpse:

After the Coldrif syrup controversy, Telangana’s DCA has widened its scope by flagging two more cough syrups Relife and Respifresh TR for contamination by diethylene glycol. With over 20 child deaths linked to tainted syrups, the state has instructed medical outlets to immediately halt distribution and alert authorities.

In a major escalation of the pharmaceutical safety crisis, Telangana’s DCA announced a fresh public alert against two cough syrups: Relife and Respifresh TR. Laboratory tests detected dangerous levels of DEG, the same toxic chemical blamed for child fatalities in other states.

This directive comes days after Coldrif syrup was linked to multiple deaths across Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The DCA named the manufacturers (Relife by Shape Pharma, Respifresh TR by Rednex Pharmaceuticals), flagged the specific batches, and ordered an immediate stop in sale, distribution, and usage.

District health officers and medical institutions have been instructed to coordinate with drug control units to identify and remove existing stocks. The alert serves as a warning that contamination may be wider than previously estimated.
