Samsung has introduced the R20 a next-generation, AI-driven ultrasound system built on its Crystal Architecture™ delivering superior image clarity, automated diagnostics, and ergonomic design for a wide range of clinical applications.
Glimpse:
The R20 brings together advanced imaging hardware, powerful GPU-driven processing, an ultra-high definition OLED display, and a suite of AI tools such as real-time lesion detection (for liver and breast), automated measurements, and fat-fraction quantification. With enhanced Doppler sensitivity and broad clinical application coverage from abdomen and thyroid to musculoskeletal, vascular, obstetrics and more Samsung aims to raise the bar for ultrasound diagnostics and workflow efficiency
Samsung today unveiled its super-premium R20 ultrasound system, marking a significant leap forward in diagnostic imaging. Built on the company’s proprietary Crystal Architecture™, the R20 is designed to deliver exceptional image uniformity, resolution, and penetration depth making it suitable for a wide variety of general-imaging use cases.
At the core of R20’s innovation is a powerful next-generation imaging engine paired with a high-performance GPU and an ultra-HD OLED monitor together providing clinicians with superior visualization and diagnostic confidence even in challenging patient cases. The system’s robust imaging performance spans multiple specialties including abdomen, thyroid, vascular, breast, musculoskeletal, urology, obstetrics & gynaecology. Its enhanced Doppler sensitivity and advanced colour-flow visualization further enable detection of subtle vascular changes and microvascular structures.
What sets the R20 apart is its deep integration of AI-driven clinical and workflow tools. Among them Live LiverAssist (for real-time suspicious lesion detection during scans), Live BreastAssist (real-time breast lesion detection with BIRADS-based classification), automated measurement and reporting tools for internal structures, and Deep USFF, an AI-powered fat-fraction quantification tool that correlates with MRI-PDFF standards for accurate fat-fraction assessment. These features not only enhance diagnostic accuracy, but also standardize measurements and reduce operator variability a key advantage in busy clinical settings.
Beyond its imaging and AI power, Samsung has paid attention to ergonomics and clinician comfort. The R20 comes with lightweight transducer cables, a customizable touch-interface, and configurable system layouts designed to minimize physical strain during long scanning sessions. Independent ergonomic assessments reportedly confirm that R20 meets 100% of recognized ergonomic guidelines, underscoring its suitability for high-volume use in hospitals and imaging centres.
With this launch, Samsung signals its ambition to set a new standard in general imaging combining technological excellence, clinician-centric design, and AI-driven diagnostic support in a single platform.
“With AI at its core and a focus on both image excellence and clinician comfort, the R20 is a paradigm shift in ultrasound technology helping doctors detect lesions in real time and deliver care with confidence.”
