Rainbow Children’s Hospital will invest roughly ₹ 900 crore to add about 900 new beds over the next few years with around 450 beds planned in the Delhi-NCR region, marking a strategic northward expansion for the predominantly south-based paediatric and perinatal care chain.
Glimpse:
Under the plan, Rainbow aims to build new hospitals and expand existing operations across key growth markets including Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Pune, Coimbatore and more. The expansion will use a mix of greenfield hospitals and asset-light / satellite-hospital models to optimise costs and speed up capacity build-out.
Rainbow Children’s Hospital a leading paediatric and maternal-care chain headquartered in Hyderabad has announced a major expansion across India, aiming to add nearly 900 beds over the coming years. As per the plan, approximately 450 of those beds will be in the Delhi-NCR region. This marks a strategic shift for the hospital group, which so far has had its largest presence in southern states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
In its north-expansion plan, Rainbow intends to build two major hospitals in the NCR: a flagship hospital with ~325 beds and a satellite/spoke hospital with ~125 beds. The remaining capacity expansion will be spread across other cities including planned new units in Bengaluru (Electronic City, Hennur), Pune, Coimbatore and others.
The hospital group plans to deploy a blend of greenfield construction and asset-light (satellite) models which helps manage per-bed cost efficiently while scaling quickly. According to management, the investment for the 900-bed expansion is expected to be in the range of ₹800–900 crore.
Rainbow currently operates numerous hospitals and clinics across southern and other Indian cities. With this expansion, the group aims to address the rising demand for specialised paediatric and perinatal care in Northern India, where birth rates and demand for high-quality maternal-child healthcare remain high.
“Our next big strategic bet is Delhi-NCR the future of children’s healthcare in North India. We aim to make advanced paediatric & perinatal care accessible for more families across the country.” Dr. Ramesh Kancharla, Chairman & MD, Rainbow Children’s Hospital
