Wolters Kluwer has released an “Advanced Compounding” module for Simplifi 797 a comprehensive software platform that helps pharmacies comply with the stricter 2023 USP Chapter 797 guidelines, especially for complex sterile and nonsterile compounding workflows, documentation, batch tracking, and beyond-use dating.
Glimpse:
The new module supports high-risk sterile compounding processes (including non-sterile-to-sterile conversions), extended beyond-use dates, batch tracking, environmental monitoring and competency documentation. It includes built-in education materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), training and audit-ready reporting helping pharmacies transition from manual workflows to a closed-loop, compliant digital system.
With the 2023 revision to USP Chapter 797, compliance requirements for compounding pharmacies have grown more demanding: stricter documentation, environmental monitoring, competency checks, and robust batch / beyond-use date (BUD) tracking. Many pharmacies especially those preparing high-risk sterile or nonsterile-to-sterile compounded preparations face operational and compliance challenges under the new norms.
To address this, Wolters Kluwer has unveiled its Advanced Compounding module as part of its Simplifi 797 suite. The module offers a closed-loop digital solution for pharmacies: from batch record creation and tracking, BUD management, environmental condition logging (cleanroom monitoring), to audit-ready documentation and reporting.
Beyond workflow automation, the module also includes comprehensive educational resources SOPs, training materials, competency assessments, and environmental-monitoring data capture enabling staff competency documentation and compliance under USP guidelines. This helps reduce reliance on manual logs and mitigates risk of human errors.
Pharmacies using the version of Simplifi 797 with this module will now be able to manage the full scope of compounding from immediate-use to Category 3 / high-risk compounding under a unified, digitally managed, audit-ready compliance framework.
“Advanced compounding is one of the most challenging areas of pharmacy practice having tools that merge education, documentation and workflow in one system is essential not only for compliance, but for safe patient care.”
