Ahmedabad-based Zydus Lifesciences has entered an exclusive agreement with US precision medicine leader Myriad Genetics to introduce advanced cancer-risk assessment and prognostic tests in India, including MyRisk Hereditary Cancer Test, MyChoice HRD Plus for ovarian cancer, and Prolaris Prostate Cancer Prognostic Test, to empower clinicians with genomic tools for personalized care.
Glimpse:
Announced in mid-December 2025, the partnership grants Zydus exclusive rights to market and promote Myriad’s validated diagnostic platforms across India. These tests address hereditary cancer risks across multiple types, HRD status in ovarian cancer for targeted therapies, and prostate cancer aggressiveness for tailored treatment enhancing early detection, risk stratification, and precision oncology amid rising cancer incidence in the country.
Zydus Lifesciences Ltd., a global innovation-driven pharmaceutical powerhouse, has forged a strategic exclusive partnership with Utah-based Myriad Genetics to bring cutting-edge cancer-risk assessment and prognostic diagnostic tests to the Indian market. This collaboration aims to bridge gaps in precision oncology by equipping clinicians and patients with globally validated genomic tools previously dominant in North America, Europe, and major cancer centers.
Under the agreement, Zydus will exclusively market, build awareness, and engage clinicians nationwide for three flagship Myriad platforms:
MyRisk Hereditary Cancer Test: A comprehensive germline panel analyzing 63 genes linked to hereditary risks for over 11 cancer types, including breast, ovarian, colorectal, pancreatic, and prostate. Combined with family history and clinical factors, it delivers personalized five-year and lifetime risk scores, enabling proactive screening and prevention especially crucial for those with BRCA1/BRCA2 mutations or suggestive personal/family histories.
MyChoice HRD Plus Test: A tumor-based assay determining Homologous Recombination Deficiency (HRD) status through BRCA mutations and Genomic Instability Score. It identifies advanced ovarian cancer patients likely to benefit from PARP inhibitors and targeted therapies, guiding more effective treatment pathways.
Prolaris Prostate Cancer Prognostic Test: An RNA expression-based tool assessing tumor aggressiveness via a patient-specific risk score. It informs decisions on treatment intensity, active surveillance suitability, and long-term risks of metastasis or mortality particularly timely as prostate cancer cases surge in India.
These tests integrate into Zydus’ expanding diagnostic portfolio, focusing on clinician education and infrastructure to facilitate earlier, more accurate risk assessments and confident, personalized treatment planning.
The move aligns with India’s escalating cancer burden, where precision diagnostics can drive better outcomes through informed prevention, reduced overtreatment, and optimized therapies. By localizing access to these proven tools, the partnership promises to democratize advanced genomic insights, supporting evidence-based care in a rapidly evolving oncology landscape.
Zydus, known for its patient-centric approach and strong R&D backbone, sees this as a milestone in advancing precision medicine accessibility. Myriad Genetics brings decades of expertise in molecular diagnostics, with tests that empower actionable decisions across risk evaluation, tumor biology understanding, and therapeutic guidance.
As cancer diagnostics shift toward personalization, this Indo-US collaboration could significantly elevate standards in Indian healthcare, offering hope through clarity in complex cancer journeys.
“This collaboration with Zydus is an important step forward in expanding precision oncology across India.”
