Redcliffe Labs Unveils AI-Powered Face Scan for Contactless Preventive Health Screening in India

Redcliffe Labs, one of India’s fastest-growing diagnostic chains, has introduced an AI-driven contactless face scan tool that enables rapid, non-invasive preventive health screening. The technology analyses facial features, skin tone variations, eye sclera, and other visible biomarkers to provide instant risk scores for conditions such as anaemia, jaundice, thyroid dysfunction, diabetes risk, cardiovascular risk, and vitamin deficiencies delivering results in under 60 seconds without blood draws or physical contact.

Glimpse:

Launched on January 22, 2026, the AI face scan is now live at select Redcliffe Labs centres and through their mobile app. It uses a smartphone camera or in-clinic kiosk to capture a short video, processes it via proprietary deep learning models trained on millions of Indian patient images, and generates a personalised health risk report with recommendations for follow-up tests or consultations. The tool is positioned as a first-line screening aid for asymptomatic individuals, with high accuracy validated against gold-standard lab tests in initial trials. Redcliffe plans to roll it out across 200+ cities by mid-2026.

Redcliffe Labs has taken a bold step into preventive and contactless diagnostics with the nationwide launch of its AI-powered face scan technology, a non-invasive screening tool that analyses visible facial biomarkers to generate instant risk assessments for multiple common health conditions. The innovation, unveiled on January 22, 2026, marks one of the first large-scale commercial deployments of facial biomarker AI in India’s diagnostic sector.

The face scan requires only a 30–60 second video captured via smartphone or dedicated kiosk at Redcliffe centres. The AI analyses subtle changes in skin tone (for anaemia and jaundice), scleral colour (for liver function and bilirubin levels), facial puffiness (for thyroid and kidney issues), eye bags and colour (for sleep quality and fatigue), and micro-expressions or vascular patterns (for cardiovascular and metabolic risk). Trained on a massive dataset of Indian patients with paired lab-confirmed diagnoses, the model delivers a comprehensive preventive health score and flags potential risks for conditions including iron deficiency, vitamin B12/D deficiency, prediabetes, hypertension risk, and early liver stress.

Redcliffe Labs has validated the tool against thousands of concurrent lab tests, reporting sensitivity and specificity in the 85–92% range for key markers such as anaemia and jaundice levels sufficient for effective first-line screening. The system does not provide definitive diagnoses but generates actionable recommendations: β€œHigh likelihood of anaemia suggest full blood panel” or β€œElevated diabetes risk recommend HbA1c and fasting glucose.”

Dr. Apeksha Ekbote, Chief of Lab Operations at Redcliffe Labs, explained the clinical rationale: β€œMany preventable conditions progress silently for years before symptoms appear. A quick, zero-cost face scan can serve as an early alert, prompting timely lab confirmation and lifestyle changes. It’s especially powerful for population screening, corporate health checks, and rural outreach where access to labs is limited.”

The face scan is already live at select Redcliffe centres in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad, with a phased rollout planned across 200+ cities by mid-2026. It is offered free as an entry-level screening during routine visits or paid health packages, and integrated into Redcliffe’s app for self-initiated scans at home. The company is also exploring partnerships with corporates, insurance providers, and government wellness programmes to deploy the tool at scale.

The launch aligns with India’s growing emphasis on preventive health under the National Health Policy and Ayushman Bharat framework. While not a replacement for lab testing or clinical examination, the face scan positions Redcliffe as a pioneer in accessible, AI-augmented preventive screening potentially transforming how millions of Indians engage with their health long before disease becomes symptomatic.

β€œA 60-second face scan can be the first step toward catching silent diseases early turning smartphones into powerful tools for preventive health across India.”
