Swisslog Healthcare has significantly strengthened its presence in India, designating the country as its primary operational and innovation hub for the Asia-Pacific region. The announcement, made on January 24, 2026, follows years of steady growth in the Indian market and reflects the company’s confidence in India’s potential to drive both domestic and regional expansion in automated hospital logistics and medication management.

The expansion encompasses several key initiatives: scaling manufacturing capacity at its existing facility near Pune, increasing the local engineering and R&D team to customise solutions for APAC-specific needs (such as multilingual interfaces, integration with local EHRs, and support for high-volume generic drug handling), and building a larger field service and customer support organisation to ensure rapid deployment and uptime for hospital clients. Swisslog’s flagship products PillPick robotic pouch packagers, BoxPicker automated storage and retrieval systems, and NexusAGV autonomous mobile robots are now being produced and supported locally at greater scale.

India’s hospital sector is experiencing explosive growth, with private chains expanding rapidly and government facilities upgrading under schemes like Ayushman Bharat. Medication errors, stockouts, and inefficient supply chains remain major challenges, particularly in high-volume settings.
