Philips and Apollo Hospitals have signed an MoU to advance diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes for stroke and structural heart disease across India. The partnership combines Philipsโ advanced imaging, AI-driven diagnostics, and interventional solutions with Apolloโs extensive clinical network to improve early detection, precision interventions, and access to specialized care especially in underserved regions.
Glimpse:
The collaboration focuses on deploying Philipsโ cutting-edge tools such as AI-enhanced CT/MRI for stroke imaging, 3D echocardiography, and image-guided interventional systems across Apolloโs hospitals. It includes training programs, standardized protocols, and joint research to reduce door-to-treatment times in stroke, enhance TAVR/TAVI and mitral valve procedures, and build capacity for structural heart interventions. The initiative aims to lower mortality and disability rates while expanding high-quality care beyond metros.
Global health technology leader Philips and Apollo Hospitals Group, one of Indiaโs largest private healthcare networks, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen stroke and structural heart disease care nationwide. The partnership, formalized in early 2026, brings together Philipsโ innovative imaging, AI, and interventional technologies with Apolloโs vast clinical expertise and hospital footprint to address two of Indiaโs leading causes of death and disability.
Stroke care acceleration Faster diagnosis through AI-powered CT perfusion and MRI analysis, streamlined workflows for thrombolysis and thrombectomy, and telestroke support for remote centres Structural heart interventions Advanced 3D echocardiography, fluoroscopy guidance, and robotic-assisted systems to improve precision in TAVR/TAVI, mitral valve repair, and left atrial appendage closure Capacity building Training for interventional cardiologists, neurologists, radiologists, and cath lab teams on latest protocols and technologies Research & evidence generation Joint studies to develop India-specific guidelines, validate AI tools on local patient data, and measure long-term outcomes
The collaboration will initially focus on select Apollo centres in major cities before scaling to tier-2 and tier-3 locations. Philips will provide equipment upgrades, software integration, and technical support, while Apollo contributes large-scale patient data (anonymized and compliant), clinical validation, and real-world implementation insights.
India faces a massive burden from stroke (over 1.5 million cases annually) and rising structural heart disease due to aging populations and lifestyle factors. Delayed diagnosis, limited access to cath labs, and shortage of trained specialists remain major barriers. This public-private partnership aims to bridge those gaps by making advanced diagnostics and interventions more widely available and standardized.
The MoU reflects growing momentum in India for technology-enabled, scalable solutions to high-burden diseases aligning with national priorities under Ayushman Bharat and the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases.
โBy combining Philipsโ technology leadership with Apolloโs clinical scale, we can bring world-class stroke and heart care closer to millions of Indians faster and more equitably.โ
