In a strategic move to strengthen its specialty healthcare footprint, Global Health Limited, which operates under the Medanta brand, has announced the acquisition of an 80-bed cancer hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, for ₹30 crore. The deal is being executed through a Business Transfer Agreement (BTA) with the Asian Institute of Oncology Private Limited.
The newly acquired facility is located just 500 meters from Medanta’s existing 175-bed multi-specialty hospital in Indore, enabling seamless integration between the two units. This proximity is expected to enhance operational efficiency, improve patient flow, and optimize infrastructure utilization.
With this acquisition, Medanta aims to introduce a comprehensive oncology program something that was previously missing at its Indore campus. The new facility, equipped with advanced cancer care infrastructure, will allow the hospital chain to expand its range of specialized services and address the growing demand for cancer treatment in Central India.
This move aligns with the broader industry trend of hospital chains expanding their specialty care capabilities through acquisitions and strategic investments. It also reinforces Medanta’s long term plan to deepen its presence in key regions while enhancing tertiary and quaternary healthcare offerings.
The integration of the cancer hospital is also expected to create strong operational synergies between the two nearby facilities. By consolidating services and leveraging shared resources, Medanta plans to deliver more efficient and patient centric care.
“With state of the art oncology infrastructure, this facility enables us to add comprehensive cancer care, a previously missing specialty.”
