Novartis has announced plans to build a new Manufacturing Facility In Morrisville, North Carolina, as part of its massive $23 Billion Investment In U.S. Manufacturing And R&D Infrastructure.
The upcoming facility will focus on producing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) used in solid dose medicines such as tablets and capsules, as well as advanced therapies including RNA-based treatments.
Spanning approximately 56,200 Square Feet, the Morrisville plant represents the Seventh And Final Facility in Novartis’ large scale U.S. expansion plan. This investment is aimed at strengthening End To End Domestic Manufacturing, enabling the company to produce medicines entirely within the U.S. from raw ingredients to finished products for the first time in its history.
The facility will also play a key role in supporting a broad range of therapeutic areas, including Oncology, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular, and Metabolic Diseases, ensuring faster and more reliable delivery of medicines to patients.
This move is part of a broader strategy by Novartis to Enhance Supply Chain Resilience, Reduce Dependency On Global Imports, And Bring Manufacturing Closer To Patients. The company has been rapidly expanding its U.S. footprint, with multiple facilities planned across states such as North Carolina, Texas, and Florida.
In North Carolina alone, the expansion includes a Flagship Manufacturing Hub Across Morrisville And Durham, expected to create hundreds of jobs and strengthen the region’s position as a major pharmaceutical manufacturing center.
Industry experts view this investment as part of a wider trend where global pharmaceutical companies are Onshoring Production to improve reliability, meet regulatory expectations, and respond to growing demand for advanced therapies.
