The Government of India’s Tele-MANAS initiative is witnessing steady growth in Andhra Pradesh, with nearly 3,000 Individuals Accessing Counselling Services Every Month. The program, launched under the National Tele Mental Health Programme, aims to provide Free, Accessible Mental Health Support through telephonic and digital channels.

Tele-MANAS connects users with trained counsellors and mental health professionals via a 24/7 helpline, enabling people to seek help for issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, and emotional distress without visiting a hospital. The service is particularly valuable in regions where access to mental health specialists is limited.

Officials noted that the increasing usage reflects Growing Awareness And Reduced Stigma Around Mental Health, encouraging more people to reach out for professional support. The platform ensures confidentiality and ease of access, making it a preferred option for those hesitant to seek in person care.

In Andhra Pradesh, the program is supported by dedicated call centres and trained personnel who provide Initial Counselling, Psychological First Aid, And Referrals to higher level care when required. This structured approach ensures continuity of care and timely intervention for individuals in need.

The success of Tele-MANAS also highlights the importance of Digital Health Initiatives In Bridging Gaps In Mental Healthcare Delivery, especially in semi urban and rural areas. By leveraging technology, the program is expanding its reach and making mental health services more inclusive and scalable.

Experts believe that such initiatives are crucial in addressing India’s growing mental health burden, where a large portion of the population still lacks access to adequate care. With continued investment and awareness, Tele-MANAS is expected to play a key role in strengthening the country’s mental health ecosystem.

“Accessible, stigma-free mental health support is no longer a luxury it’s becoming a reality through digital care.”
