BPL Medical Technologies, one of India’s leading manufacturers of medical diagnostic equipment, has announced a strategic expansion into advanced imaging systems and digital health platforms. The initiative includes next-generation digital X-ray machines, AI-enhanced ultrasound devices, and integrated telemedicine and remote monitoring solutions aimed at improving diagnostic accuracy, accessibility, and affordability across tier-2 and tier-3 cities in India.
Glimpse:
The expansion, revealed on January 23, 2026, features the launch of a new line of high-resolution digital radiography systems with built-in AI for automated image optimisation and abnormality detection, alongside portable ultrasound devices with cloud connectivity for remote specialist consultations. BPL also introduced a digital health ecosystem that enables seamless integration of imaging data with electronic health records, tele-radiology reporting, and patient portals targeting rural and semi-urban healthcare providers where specialist radiologists are scarce.
BPL Medical Technologies, a flagship company of the BPL Group with over six decades of expertise in diagnostic and monitoring equipment, has launched a comprehensive expansion strategy that significantly strengthens its presence in advanced medical imaging and digital health. The announcement, made during a national healthcare industry conclave in Bengaluru on January 23, 2026, positions BPL to address growing demand for high-quality, affordable diagnostic solutions in India’s underserved regions.
The company introduced a new portfolio of digital radiography systems featuring flat-panel detectors, AI-powered image enhancement, and automated detection algorithms for common abnormalities such as fractures, pneumothorax, and cardiomegaly. These systems deliver superior image quality with lower radiation doses, faster acquisition times, and seamless integration with hospital information systems and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems). Designed for both fixed and mobile applications, the devices are particularly suited for district hospitals, rural diagnostic centres, and emergency departments.
Complementing the imaging lineup, BPL unveiled compact, portable ultrasound systems equipped with AI-assisted measurement tools, automated reporting, and cloud-based image sharing for real-time tele-radiology consultations. These devices enable remote expert review by specialists in urban centres, bridging critical gaps in sonography access in remote and semi-urban areas.
At the core of the digital health push is BPL’s new connected ecosystem, which links imaging devices, patient monitoring tools, and electronic health records through a secure cloud platform. The system supports teleconsultations, remote second opinions, automated report distribution, and integration with national digital health frameworks such as the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). Clinicians can access patient imaging history, compare serial studies, and collaborate across facilities improving diagnostic confidence and care coordination.
Anil Kumar, Managing Director of BPL Medical Technologies, stated: “India’s healthcare needs are evolving rapidly, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities where access to advanced diagnostics remains limited. Our new imaging systems and digital health platform bring world-class technology closer to patients and clinicians, making accurate diagnosis faster, safer, and more affordable while supporting the national goal of equitable healthcare.”
The expansion aligns with government priorities under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for medical devices. BPL emphasised that all new products are designed for local manufacturing, regulatory compliance (CDSCO, US FDA, CE), and cost-effectiveness, with a focus on reducing import dependence for critical diagnostic equipment.
The company plans to roll out the new systems through a phased nationwide launch, starting with key states in southern and western India, while also targeting public health facilities under Ayushman Bharat and state insurance schemes. Training programs for radiographers and clinicians, along with service support networks, are being established to ensure smooth adoption.
“Our vision is simple: bring advanced diagnostics and digital connectivity to every corner of India. With these new innovations, we are making high-quality imaging and care coordination accessible where it’s needed most closer to patients, not just in big cities.”
