Mango Sciences & ImmunoACT Team Up to Make India’s First CAR-T Therapy More Accessible

Mango Sciences and ImmunoACT have joined forces to expand access to NexCAR19, India’s indigenous CAR-T therapy for leukemia and lymphoma  by introducing new financing plans and a value-based cost model to reduce upfront cost barriers for patients.

Glimpse:

The collaboration will offer eligible patients a 0%-interest bridge financing plan of up to ₹ 10 lakh, plus a value-based offering (also up to ₹ 10 lakh) tied to clinical outcomes  a global first for CAR-T therapies.  These financial innovations aim to make NexCAR19, already priced lower than many global CAR-T therapies, even more affordable and reachable for blood-cancer patients across India.

Mango Sciences and Mumbai-based ImmunoACT announced a strategic partnership to improve access to NexCAR19  a CAR-T therapy for relapsed/refractory B-cell leukemias and lymphomas.  Under the agreement, patients opting for NexCAR19 at select centres will be eligible for a 0% interest EMI plan covering up to ₹ 10 lakh, reducing upfront financial burden. In addition, there’s a value-based offering: a rebate/discount of up to ₹ 10 lakh tied to treatment outcomes, effectively lowering net cost for responders.

NexCAR19, developed by ImmunoACT (a spin-out from IIT Bombay), was approved by the regulatory authority in 2023 and is among the first commercially available CAR-T therapies made in India.  The therapy offers a lifesaving option for patients with B-cell malignancies who have exhausted conventional treatments like chemotherapy or bone marrow transplant.

In a statement, Mango Sciences’ CEO said this was “a global first”  using data and technology to enable value-based and patient-friendly financing for high-cost oncology treatments. ImmunoACT’s founder echoed this, noting that the financing programs reflect confidence in NexCAR19’s safety and efficacy, while supporting patients who might otherwise be unable to afford CAR-T therapy.

If successful, this collaboration could set a precedent for making cutting-edge gene therapies more equitable in India broadening access beyond affluent segments and improving real-world treatment uptake.

“By pairing affordable financing with outcome-linked pricing, we want to ensure CAR-T isn’t just a breakthrough therapy it becomes a reachable reality for many more patients.”
