~Motherhood Hospitals, Kharghar & Navi Mumbai Association of Pediatrics Elevate Perinatology Standards in Vashi.
~Experts highlight the need for precision in diagnosis & multidisciplinary collaboration
~Standardized neonatal protocols to improve outcomes across the perinatal continuum
Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar, in collaboration with the Navi Mumbai Association of Pediatrics (IAP Navi Mumbai), hosted the “Perinatology Subspecialty CME 2026” at The Regenza by Tunga, Vashi. The day-long academic event brought together 100-plus obstetricians, pediatricians, and neonatologists to strengthen neonatal and perinatal care through knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
The scientific program covered the entire perinatal spectrum, from antenatal diagnosis to long-term neonatal outcomes. Key discussions focused on managing high-risk pregnancies, including the timing of delivery in severe Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR) and the evolving role of fetal interventions. Subspecialty sessions explored complex conditions such as Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), critical congenital heart disease, and renal and brain anomalies.
Clinical protocols were a central theme, with emphasis on implementing โNeuroprotection Bundlesโ in the NICU and addressing the safety and timing of vaccinations for preterm infants. The conference also prioritized hands-on learning through dedicated workstations on early NICU interventions and the neurodevelopmental screening post-discharge, enabling participants to translate theory into practice.
Highlighting the importance of bridging clinical gaps through structured protocols and multidisciplinary coordination, Dr. Anish Pillai, Lead Consultant โ Neonatology and Paediatrics, Motherhood Hospitals, Kharghar, shared insights on improving neonatal outcomes,ย stating thatย “Closing the gaps in neonatal care requires a rigorous adherence to neuroprotection bundles and a multidisciplinary team effort. This CME serves as a vital platform for clinicians to bridge the gap between antenatal diagnosis and long-term postnatal outcomes, ensuring that every high-risk infant receives a standardized, evidence-based start to life.”
Emphasizing the role of early and accurate antenatal diagnosis in shaping postnatal care, Dr. Rupali Kadam, Facility Director at Motherhood Hospitals, Kharghar, underscored the need for proactive clinical planning. “Our focus remains on the precision of antenatal diagnosis for conditions such as ventriculomegaly and hydronephrosis. By integrating expert insights early in pregnancy, we can better navigate the complexities of fetal interventions and prepare families for the specific postnatal requirements of their newborns.”
Reinforcing the value of collaboration and continuous medical learning, the leadership at IAP Navi Mumbai highlighted the importance of such platforms in strengthening regional clinical capabilities. The President of IAP Navi Mumbai, Dr Mangayarkarshi Sinha, said: “Collaboration is the cornerstone of pediatric excellence. By partnering with Motherhood Hospitals for this CME, we are empowering our medical fraternity with 2 MMC credit points and, more importantly, the specialized knowledge needed to tackle the evolving challenges in perinatology today.”
The conference concluded with original research and e-poster presentations, encouraging academic excellence among residents and fellows. The overall focus remained on combining precision in diagnosis with collaborative execution to improve outcomes for both mothers and newborns.
