MedGenome, India’s leading precision medicine and genomics company, has acquired a majority stake in Medcare Management Services, a prominent player in diagnostic imaging and pathology services. The acquisition strengthens MedGenome’s integrated diagnostics offerings by adding advanced radiology, pathology, and imaging capabilities, enabling end-to-end precision diagnostics from genomics to imaging interpretation for oncology, rare diseases, and chronic conditions across India.
Glimpse:
Through this strategic majority acquisition, MedGenome gains control of Medcare’s network of high-end imaging centres, pathology labs, and radiology expertise, allowing seamless integration of genomic insights with structural and functional imaging data. The combined entity will offer comprehensive diagnostic packages, AI-assisted reporting, faster turnaround times, and expanded reach in tier-1 and tier-2 cities. The deal is expected to accelerate MedGenome’s growth in the $10+ billion Indian diagnostics market while enhancing clinical decision support for physicians and patients.
MedGenome, a global leader in genetic diagnostics and precision medicine headquartered in Bengaluru, has acquired a majority stake in Medcare Management Services, a well-established diagnostic imaging and pathology services provider with a strong presence in South India. The transaction, finalized on February 27, 2026, was announced jointly by both companies and marks a significant step in MedGenome’s strategy to build an integrated, full-spectrum diagnostics platform that combines cutting-edge genomics with advanced imaging and pathology.
Medcare operates a chain of state-of-the-art diagnostic centres equipped with high-field MRI, multi-slice CT, digital mammography, ultrasound, PET-CT, and comprehensive pathology laboratories offering routine to specialized testing. The acquisition brings these capabilities under MedGenome’s umbrella, enabling the creation of unified diagnostic workflows where genomic profiling, biomarker analysis, and structural/functional imaging results can be correlated in real time to deliver more precise diagnoses and treatment recommendations, particularly in oncology, neurology, cardiology, and rare genetic disorders.
The combined platform will support clinicians with AI-assisted image interpretation, automated report generation, and integrated clinical decision support tools that draw from both molecular and imaging data. Patients will benefit from faster, more coordinated testing, reduced need for multiple visits, and access to comprehensive diagnostic packages at competitive pricing. The deal also strengthens MedGenome’s presence in southern India, where Medcare has built a loyal base of referring physicians and hospitals, while opening opportunities for national expansion through MedGenome’s existing network.
MedGenome Founder and Chairman Dr. K. Thangaraj and Medcare leadership jointly stated that the acquisition aligns perfectly with the growing demand for precision and integrated diagnostics in India, where fragmented testing often delays accurate diagnosis and treatment. The companies will retain their individual brands initially while harmonizing operations, quality standards, and digital infrastructure to ensure seamless service delivery. Regulatory approvals, including from the Competition Commission of India, were secured smoothly, reflecting the complementary nature of the two businesses.
The transaction is expected to drive significant synergies in cost, technology, and market reach, positioning the combined entity as a formidable player in India’s rapidly consolidating diagnostics sector. MedGenome plans to invest further in expanding Medcare’s imaging footprint, upgrading equipment, and integrating advanced AI tools for faster, more accurate reporting across all centres.
“Genomics and imaging are two sides of the same coin in precision medicine. By bringing Medcare into the MedGenome family, we are creating an integrated diagnostic powerhouse that delivers faster, more accurate answers for patients and clinicians across India.”
