In a major push to industrial and healthcare manufacturing growth, the Odisha government has approved investment proposals worth ₹3,877 crore across multiple sectors, including pharmaceuticals and medical devices. The approvals were granted at the 146th meeting of the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA), chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg.
A total of 18 industrial projects were cleared, with a strong focus on building a diversified industrial ecosystem. These projects are expected to generate approximately 7,565 employment opportunities across 11 districts such as Khurda, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur.
The healthcare and life sciences segment forms a key part of this investment push. Harman Finochem Ltd will establish a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, while Ambitech Healthcare Pvt Ltd will set up a medical device manufacturing unit, strengthening Odisha’s pharma and medtech value chain.
Beyond healthcare, the approved projects span sectors such as metals, electronics, explosives, logistics, shipbuilding, and tourism. This diversified approach reflects Odisha’s strategy to move beyond traditional mining led growth and position itself as a hub for advanced manufacturing and high value industries.
Officials highlighted that the state is increasingly focused on fast tracking investments and ensuring on ground execution, with over 150 industrial projects already operationalized in the past two years.
The initiative aligns with Odisha’s broader vision to become a leading industrial hub in eastern India by promoting innovation, strengthening infrastructure, and attracting investments in emerging sectors like healthcare manufacturing and electronics.
Experts note that the inclusion of pharma and medical device projects is particularly significant, as it supports India’s goal of strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities and reducing dependency on imports in critical healthcare sectors.
“These projects reflect Odisha’s strategy of building a diversified industrial ecosystem.”
