Aster DM Healthcare has invested ₹96 crore to significantly expand its Aster Whitefield Hospital in Bengaluru, increasing the total bed capacity from 380 to 539 beds. The addition includes a dedicated 159-bed Aster Women & Children facility offering comprehensive maternal and pediatric care services.

Glimpse:

Announced on April 13, 2026, the expanded facility was inaugurated by Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and State Legislative Assembly Speaker UT Khader. The new unit features advanced infrastructure including water birthing, laparoscopic gynaecology, foetal medicine, a high-tech NICU, fertility centre, pediatric surgery, PICU, and HDU. This development forms part of Aster’s broader growth strategy in Bengaluru, which will eventually raise the company’s total bed capacity in Karnataka to 2,573 beds.

Aster DM Healthcare, one of India’s prominent integrated healthcare providers, has committed ₹96 crore to expand its Aster Whitefield Hospital in Bengaluru. The investment adds 159 new beds, taking the hospital’s overall capacity from 380 to 539 beds. A major highlight of the expansion is the launch of a dedicated Aster Women & Children facility designed to deliver seamless, end to end care for mothers and children under one roof.

The new 159-bed unit covers the full spectrum of maternal and pediatric services, starting from preconception counselling through pregnancy, childbirth, and postnatal care. It is equipped with modern amenities such as water birthing services, advanced laparoscopic gynaecology procedures, a specialised foetal medicine and surgery unit, and a state of the art neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Additional services include a fertility centre, neonatal and pediatric surgical facilities, a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), and a high dependency unit (HDU).

The upgraded facility was formally inaugurated on April 13, 2026, by Karnataka Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao and Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly UT Khader. This expansion addresses the growing demand for high-quality specialised care for women and children in Bengaluru and surrounding areas.

The Whitefield project is part of Aster DM Healthcare’s larger expansion plans in Karnataka. The company is also developing a 500-bed hospital in Yeshwantpur and a 430-bed facility in Sarjapur. Once completed, these initiatives will increase Aster’s total bed strength in the state to 2,573 beds, reinforcing its position as a key player in Karnataka’s private healthcare sector.

“As demand for high quality maternal and pediatric care services continues to rise, scaling both infrastructure and clinical expertise is essential to provide comprehensive care under one system.”
