Bangalore based startup Cartosense has completed the first installation in India of its CDSCO-approved C75 Surgical Navigation System at Future Brain and Spine Hospital in Palanpur, Gujarat. The AI-enabled system uses machine learning and a proprietary single camera optical tracking technology to provide real time, high precision guidance during complex neurosurgeries.

Glimpse:

The C75 system maps radiological images onto the patient’s anatomy in real time, enabling accurate targeting of lesions with smaller incisions and reduced risk of damage to critical brain structures. The installation, facilitated by Toshbro Medicals, also includes the SONOCA 300 Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator for precise tumour removal. This marks a significant step in bringing advanced neuronavigation technology to Indian hospitals.

Cartosense, a C-CAMP-supported digital health startup from Bangalore, has successfully installed its advanced C75 Surgical Navigation System at Future Brain and Spine Hospital in Palanpur, Gujarat. This installation represents the first deployment of the CDSCO-approved system in India and is expected to strengthen precision neurosurgery capabilities in the region.

The C75 system integrates artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to register and overlay radiological images onto the patient’s actual anatomy in real time. This provides neurosurgeons with highly accurate guidance during procedures, allowing for more precise targeting of lesions while minimising collateral damage to surrounding healthy brain tissue. Its proprietary wide range single camera optical tracking system reduces the risk of visual obstruction in the operating field and offers greater flexibility in patient and instrument positioning.

Designed with a compact mobile cart and an intuitive user interface, the C75 system enables faster setup and seamless integration into existing operating room workflows. It supports minimally invasive approaches by allowing smaller incisions, which can lead to quicker recovery times and improved patient safety. The installation was facilitated by Toshbro Medicals and also included complementary equipment such as the SONOCA 300 Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator from söring GmbH for precise tumour tissue removal in brain and spine surgeries.

This development highlights the growing adoption of indigenous AI-powered medical technologies in India’s healthcare sector. By making advanced neuronavigation more accessible, Cartosense aims to raise the standard of neurosurgical care, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

“The C75 Surgical Navigation System provides surgeons with reliable navigation for cranial surgeries without interruptions or compromising accuracy.”
