BD Life Sciences-Biosciences, in partnership with CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), has inaugurated India’s pioneering Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Single-Cell Multiomics. The facility integrates BD’s advanced Rhapsody™ Single Cell Analysis Solutions with IGIB’s expertise in high-throughput next-generation sequencing (NGS) and bioinformatics to drive breakthrough research in cellular biology and precision medicine.
Glimpse:
Located at CSIR-IGIB in Delhi, the CoE aims to decode complex cellular behaviors at single-cell resolution, accelerating discoveries in areas like cancer biology, immune profiling, and molecular medicine. This collaboration fosters innovation, capacity building, and knowledge sharing, marking a significant step toward building a robust single-cell multiomics ecosystem in India. It joins BD’s growing network of CoEs across the country.
BD Life Sciences-Biosciences, a segment of global medical technology leader BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), has collaborated with the Delhi-based CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB) to inaugurate India’s first Centre of Excellence dedicated to Single-Cell Multiomics. This landmark facility combines BD’s cutting-edge Rhapsody™ Single Cell Analysis Solutions a high-throughput platform for capturing multiomic data from individual cells with IGIB’s renowned strengths in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and bioinformatics.
Single-cell multiomics enables researchers to simultaneously analyze genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and other molecular layers within thousands of individual cells, revealing cellular heterogeneity that bulk methods miss. This is crucial for understanding disease mechanisms, immune responses, tumor evolution, and treatment resistance paving the way for targeted diagnostics and personalized therapies.
The CoE serves as a collaborative hub for training, application support, and translational research, addressing national priorities in genomics, molecular medicine, and bioinformatics. It will empower scientists and clinicians to translate intricate biological data into actionable healthcare solutions, supporting India’s growing focus on precision medicine and digital health.
This initiative builds on BD Biosciences’ expanding footprint in India, with prior CoEs including the BD-NCBS Advanced Flow Cytometry Centre in Bengaluru, BD-CMC Vellore Clinical Flow Cytometry CoE, BD-JH FACS Academy, and BD-Sehgal Path Lab CoE in Mumbai.
“The centre will help researchers translate complex biological data into real-world healthcare solutions, aligned with the company's mission of advancing global health.”
