Bio Valley and 4baseCare have signed a strategic partnership to establish a state-of-the-art Genomics Centre of Excellence at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam. The centre will focus on advancing precision oncology, rare disease diagnostics, and population genomics through next-generation sequencing (NGS), AI-driven variant interpretation, and clinical reporting aiming to make high-quality genomic testing more accessible and affordable across India.
Glimpse:
The Genomics Centre of Excellence at AMTZ Vizag will house advanced NGS platforms, bioinformatics pipelines, and AI-powered analysis tools developed by 4baseCare, enabling comprehensive genomic profiling for cancer patients, hereditary disease screening, and pharmacogenomics. The partnership combines Bio Valley’s infrastructure expertise and AMTZ ecosystem with 4baseCare’s oncology genomics leadership to deliver rapid, clinically actionable reports, support large-scale research, and reduce turnaround times for precision medicine in India.
Bio Valley, a key player in India’s biotech and life sciences ecosystem, and 4baseCare, a leading precision oncology startup, have signed a landmark agreement to establish a Genomics Centre of Excellence at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam. The announcement was made on February 27, 2026, during a high-profile event attended by senior officials from the Andhra Pradesh government, AMTZ leadership, Bio Valley executives, and 4baseCare founders. The centre is poised to become a national benchmark for advanced genomic diagnostics and research, leveraging AMTZ’s world-class infrastructure and 4baseCare’s proven expertise in clinical genomics.
The Genomics Centre of Excellence will feature cutting-edge next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms capable of whole-exome, whole-genome, and targeted panel sequencing, along with state-of-the-art bioinformatics pipelines and AI-driven variant interpretation tools developed by 4baseCare. The facility will focus on precision oncology including comprehensive genomic profiling for solid tumours, liquid biopsies, and minimal residual disease monitoring as well as diagnostics for rare genetic disorders, pharmacogenomics for drug response prediction, and population-scale genomic studies relevant to Indian cohorts. The centre will deliver clinically actionable reports with rapid turnaround times (often 7–14 days for oncology panels), adhering to international standards (AMP/ASCO/CAP guidelines) and local regulatory requirements.
The partnership brings together Bio Valley’s strengths in building scalable biotech infrastructure and AMTZ’s ecosystem of medtech innovation, testing labs, and regulatory support with 4baseCare’s deep experience in oncology genomics, having already processed thousands of Indian cancer patient samples and built India-specific variant databases. The centre will serve hospitals, diagnostic chains, research institutions, and public health programs across India, with a strong emphasis on affordability through optimized workflows, local reagent sourcing, and volume-based pricing. It will also support clinical trials, translational research, and capacity-building programs for pathologists, geneticists, and bioinformaticians.
Andhra Pradesh Industries Minister Nara Lokesh, who has actively championed the AMTZ as a global medtech hub, welcomed the collaboration as a major win for the state’s ambition to lead in life sciences and precision medicine. He highlighted that the Genomics Centre of Excellence will create high-skill jobs, attract further investments, and position Visakhapatnam as a key node in India’s emerging genomics ecosystem. The facility is expected to be fully operational by late 2026, with initial focus on oncology services and phased expansion into rare diseases and population genomics.
This partnership reflects the growing momentum in India’s precision medicine landscape, where public-private-academic collaborations are accelerating access to advanced diagnostics. By combining infrastructure scale with cutting-edge AI and clinical genomics expertise, the centre aims to reduce diagnostic delays, improve treatment personalization, and contribute to India’s goal of becoming a global leader in affordable precision healthcare.
“Genomics is the future of medicine, and India must lead in making it accessible. Through this partnership with 4baseCare at AMTZ, we are building a world-class centre that will bring precision oncology and genetic diagnostics to every corner of the country.”
