Dubai Health’s robotic surgical programme at Dubai Hospital, launched in the latter half of 2022, has surpassed 145 successful operations across urology, general surgery and gynaecology marking a leap in precision, reduced recovery time and digital transformation in the emirate’s healthcare system.
Glimpse:
From its inception in late 2022, Dubai Health’s robotic surgery service has demonstrated significant gains blood loss reduction of over 90%, hospital stays shrinking from two weeks to less than three days in many cases, and improved surgical accuracy through 3-D robotic systems.
Since the launch of the robotic surgery programme in the second half of 2022, Dubai Hospital an integrated part of Dubai Health has completed over 145 successful procedures using robotic systems. This milestone signals Dubai Health’s commitment to advanced medical technology and digital transformation as part of its “Patient First” promise, said CEO Amer Sharif.
The programme spans specialties including urology, general surgery and gynaecology. Under the guidance of Yaser AlSaeedi, Head of Urology and Director of Robotic Surgery at Dubai Health, the surgeries leverage robotic arms with 3-D visualization, enabling smaller incisions, less disruption to surrounding tissues, and higher precision.
Clinical outcomes have been encouraging blood loss has been reported to drop by more than 90%, and hospital stays in many cases have been reduced from the standard two weeks to fewer than three days. Furthermore, Dubai Health emphasises that robust surgeon training is integral combining simulation and hands-on modules to ensure safe adoption of these advanced systems.
As Dubai positions itself as a regional leader in medical innovation, the success of its robotic surgery programme reflects a broader shift in the emirate’s healthcare strategy moving beyond conventional care into high-tech, precision-driven services.
“Robotic surgeries at Dubai Health represent a significant step forward in the use of smart technologies in the operating room. This approach has increased surgical precision, strengthened patient safety, and led to improved outcomes.”
