Empatica has acquired PKG Health to combine validated movement disorder algorithms with its wearable platform advancing digital monitoring, diagnostics, and clinical trials for Parkinson’s disease globally.

Empatica, known for its FDA-cleared wearable health monitoring devices, has taken over PKG Health, a pioneer in movement disorder algorithms. This acquisition will integrate PKG’s algorithms (for symptoms like tremor, gait, sleep, bradykinesia, and dyskinesia) into Empatica’s devices such as its new EmbraceMini and its clinical monitoring platform. The move aims to offer a more comprehensive, objective, data-driven solution for both clinical care and neurology research.
Empatica has officially acquired PKG Health, a company that specializes in validated digital endpoints and algorithms for monitoring movement disorders especially Parkinson’s disease.
PKG Health’s tools are widely respected: its algorithms for measuring symptoms such as tremors, bradykinesia, dyskinesia, fluctuations, gait abnormalities, and sleep disturbances are supported by more than 70 peer-reviewed studies, and the technology is already deployed in over 150 hospitals and clinical sites across Europe, Australia, and the U.S.
Empatica will integrate PKG Health’s movement disorder algorithms into its wearable platform (including its devices like EmbracePlus and the newer EmbraceMini), enhancing its capability to remotely monitor patients in real time, capture richer digital biomarkers, and provide refined insights into Parkinson’s disease progression.
With this acquisition, Empatica aims to strengthen its position in neurology clinical care, diagnostics, and research. For clinical trials, this means more reliable digital endpoints that can track patient outcomes and treatment response more precisely. It also promises earlier detection of changes in disease state and better day-to-day management.
