Medi-Mold, in partnership with OIC International (USA) and AddUp (France), has announced a ₹100 crore+ investment to establish India’s first large-scale 3D-printed orthopaedic implant manufacturing facility at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam marking a major leap in domestic medtech manufacturing.
Glimpse:
The new facility will combine US FDA-approved implant technology and advanced French additive manufacturing systems to produce customised orthopaedic implants for trauma, spine, hip and other applications helping reduce India’s reliance on imports and strengthen the country’s medical device ecosystem.
Medi-Mold a leading manufacturer of medical-grade molds and precision tooling based at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) has announced a strategic partnership with OIC International (USA) and AddUp (France) to build India’s first 3D-printed orthopaedic implant production facility in Visakhapatnam. The initiative represents one of the most significant investments in domestic orthopaedic device production, with an outlay of over ₹100 crore allocated for installation, scaling and localisation.
The partnership leverages OIC’s FDA-approved implant designs, cutting-edge additive manufacturing technologies from Europe, and AMTZ’s well-equipped MedTech ecosystem including advanced testing labs and machining infrastructure. The facility will produce a range of 3D-printed orthopaedic implants for key segments such as trauma, spinal care and hip replacements.
By enabling local production of high-performance implants, the project is expected to reduce dependence on expensive imports and bring globally competitive medtech manufacturing to India’s shores. It will also facilitate the transfer of proprietary technology, patents and manufacturing standards to domestic teams helping seed a specialised workforce for advanced medical device production.
The investment aligns with India’s broader goal of becoming a global hub for medtech innovation and manufacturing, strengthening the country’s position in high-tech healthcare segments while boosting export potential and supporting patient access to affordable, customised implant technology.
“This landmark facility brings world-class implant technology and manufacturing expertise to India advancing precision care while boosting local medtech capability.”
