The Telangana government has strengthened its collaboration with the national BioPharma Shakti initiative to accelerate Hyderabad’s rise as a global life sciences hub. The alignment focuses on boosting biopharma manufacturing, R&D, clinical trials, and innovation clusters leveraging Hyderabad’s existing strengths in vaccines, biologics, and digital health to attract major investments and talent.
Glimpse:
Through BioPharma Shakti, Telangana will receive targeted support for indigenous biologics production, advanced therapy development, regulatory streamlining, and startup incubation. The partnership aims to create high-skill jobs, reduce import dependence on critical biopharma products, and position Hyderabad alongside Boston, Singapore, and Basel as a top-tier life sciences destination by 2030.
The Government of Telangana has formally aligned with the Government of India’s flagship BioPharma Shakti initiative to fast-track the state’s ambition of becoming India’s and one of Asia’s leading life sciences and biopharma hubs. The announcement, made in early 2026, builds on Hyderabad’s established ecosystem (home to Bharat Biotech, Dr. Reddy’s, Novartis, Pfizer, and hundreds of startups) and introduces new policy and funding support under the national program.
Key pillars of the Telangana-BioPharma Shakti alignment include:
Biologics & vaccine manufacturing scale-up incentives for large-scale GMP facilities and fill-finish units Advanced therapy platforms support for cell & gene therapy, mRNA platforms, and monoclonal antibody development R&D and innovation clusters dedicated biotech parks with plug-and-play labs, shared bio-foundries, and accelerator programs Clinical research & trial facilitation single-window clearance, fast-track ethics approvals, and incentives for global CROs and sponsors Talent & skill development specialized training centers and industry-academia linkages to build a deep biotech workforce Export & global positioning branding Hyderabad as “BioHub India” with international roadshows and regulatory harmonization
State officials emphasized that the partnership will prioritize inclusivity—supporting women-led startups, regional biotech clusters beyond Hyderabad, and affordable innovation for diseases prevalent in India.
This strategic alignment reflects Telangana’s continued momentum in positioning Hyderabad as a world-class life sciences capital, rivaling established global hubs.
“Hyderabad is ready to lead India’s biopharma revolution. With BioPharma Shakti, we’re building the infrastructure, talent, and ecosystem to make that vision a global reality.”
