Gushengtang Holdings, a leading TCM clinic chain in China, is launching a new “internet hospital” platform powered by AI aimed at delivering traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diagnosis, treatment planning and prescription services online, broadening access and digitalising TCM care delivery.
Glimpse:
In its latest strategic push, Gushengtang is developing a digital-first healthcare channel that leverages AI avatars of TCM masters, online consultations and integrated digital supply chains for herbal prescriptions. The move signals a convergence of technology and traditional medicine as China pursues digital healthcare expansion.
Gushengtang Holdings (stock code 2273.HK), one of China’s major traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) service providers, has announced plans to build an AI-powered internet hospital focused on delivering TCM services. According to the company’s disclosures, the internet hospital is part of its strategic “Online + Offline” (OMO) model that combines offline clinic presence with digital health platforms.
The internet hospital initiative will integrate AI avatars of expert TCM physicians trained on decades of clinical experience to assist with triage, diagnosis support and treatment plan formulation. In its interim report, Gushengtang highlighted that its AI-enabled physician avatars already cover multiple TCM specialties and support follow-up interactions, aiming to close the expertise-gap across regions.
On the infrastructure side, the company outlined information-technology investments: cloud-based HIS (Hospital Information System) modules, CRM and membership systems, Internet hospital management systems, and digital supply-chain support for herb procurement and prescription fulfilment.
With this direction, Gushengtang positions itself at the intersection of TCM and smart health, responding to China’s broader push for “AI + TCM” and digital healthcare infrastructure. It remains to be seen how regulatory standards, clinician-acceptance, data-security and integration of TCM with modern digital tools will evolve.
“Our vision is to build a digital TCM hospital that meets today’s patient where they are online, accessible, and supported by the wisdom of traditional medicine enhanced by AI.”
