Google has rolled out a public preview of a new AI health coach built on its Gemini platform sintegrated into the redesigned Fitbit app. The tool provides personalized fitness plans, sleep insights, and conversational health guidance for eligible Fitbit Premium users using Pixel Watches or Fitbit devices.
Glimpse:
Starting October 28, 2025, U.S. Android Fitbit Premium users can access the Gemini-powered health coach via a preview rollout. It begins with a 5-10 minute conversational onboarding, after which it delivers adaptive workout recommendations and wellness guidance. Sleep coaching and data insights are part of the experience; future expansions toward nutrition and broader health functions are planned.
Google has introduced a new AI health coach, powered by its Gemini large language model, and integrated into a redesigned Fitbit app. The service is launching in public preview beginning October 28, 2025, for U.S. Android users who have Fitbit Premium and a compatible Fitbit or Pixel Watch device.
During onboarding, the user holds a 5-10 minute chat (via text or voice) with the coach, where it captures goals, preferences, available equipment and constraints. Based on this input, it generates a weekly fitness plan and adapts it inline with real-time health data like cardio load, sleep metrics or readiness scores.
The coach also offers sleep analysis, trend insights and contextual explanations of health metrics. Over time, it remains conversational: users can ask follow-up questions, request plan tweaks (especially when life gets in the way), or receive just-in-time recommendations aligned with user state.
The app itself has been redesigned around this coaching experience featuring new navigation tabs (Today, Fitness, Sleep, Health), more intuitive visuals, better syncing, and dark mode support. A floating “Ask Coach” button is embedded across all screens for quick conversational access.
While the initial rollout is limited to Android users with Fitbit Premium, iOS support is planned, and additional features such as nutrition coaching and cycle tracking are set to be developed in future updates. Google emphasises responsible design, with medical and fitness experts consulted in development.
“This coach is not just fitness tracking it’s about creating a conversational partner that adapts to your life, goals and daily rhythms.”
