Intelerad & AWS Forge Cloud-Native Alliance to Reinvent the Future of Medical Imaging

Intelerad has deepened its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to build a unified, cloud-native medical-imaging ecosystem powered by AWS HealthImaging. The expanded partnership aims to modernise imaging workflows, reduce system complexity, strengthen security and accelerate AI adoption across global healthcare organisations.

Glimpse:

The partnership will migrate Intelerad’s core products including PACS, VNA and enterprise imaging services onto AWS’s cloud architecture, leveraging tools like AWS HealthImaging for large-scale image storage, fast streaming and cross-enterprise data sharing. With modern APIs and AI-ready infrastructure, healthcare providers will benefit from faster access to images, reduced operational costs and stronger interoperability.

In a major step toward shaping the next generation of enterprise imaging, Intelerad has announced the expansion of its global strategic alliance with Amazon Web Services. The newly strengthened collaboration will see Intelerad transition key components of its imaging portfolio to a cloud-native architecture powered by AWS HealthImaging an enterprise-grade service designed to handle high-volume clinical imaging data at scale.

By integrating AWS HealthImaging into its core suite, Intelerad aims to streamline picture archiving, image management and clinical workflow efficiency. Hospitals and radiology networks often struggle with rising imaging volumes and the growing costs of on-premise storage. The move to AWS enables facilities to shift these burdens to a secure, scalable cloud environment that provides rapid image retrieval with significantly lower latency.

A major benefit of the alliance is the ability to create a unified, multi-tenant imaging ecosystem. Through this approach, health systems can centralise their PACS, VNA, and cross-enterprise image exchange solutions into a single cloud foundation. This eliminates redundant infrastructure while enabling care teams to access medical images quickly whether they are on-site, remote or across multi-hospital networks.

Intelerad emphasises that this platform is built for the future. With cloud-native APIs and elastic computing power, the system is inherently prepared for the rise of AI-driven imaging workflows. Hospitals can integrate algorithms for triage, automated flagging, decision support and visualisation without overhauling their existing architecture. The collaboration also enables easier adoption of upcoming innovations, such as real-time AI-enabled streaming and federated learning.

Security and compliance also remain central to the partnership. By leveraging AWS’s globally recognised security standards, the platform offers a robust environment for protected clinical data. Healthcare organisations will benefit from automated backups, disaster recovery capabilities and consistent regulatory alignment across regions.

Industry analysts see this alliance as a major inflection point for enterprise imaging. As radiology departments across the world face increasing pressure from workforce shortages and rising image complexity, cloud-native ecosystems like Intelerad-AWS are expected to replace traditional servers and legacy systems. The shift reflects a wider trend toward making imaging more accessible, intelligent and cost-efficient.

“This collaboration is more than a technology upgrade it is a new blueprint for enterprise imaging. By moving to the cloud, healthcare organisations gain faster access to imaging data, lower system costs and a foundation engineered for the AI-powered future.”
