Tata Main Hospital Pioneers Digital Leap Launches Online In-Patient Payments & Single-Point Admission

Tata Main Hospital (TMH) in Jamshedpur has rolled out enhanced online healthcare services, including a secure QR-code-based in-patient payment system and a Single-Point Admission Counter (SPAC). These initiatives streamline administrative processes, reduce wait times, and improve convenience for patients and families, positioning TMH as a leader in digital adoption among regional tertiary care facilities.

Glimpse:

As one of Eastern India’s early adopters of scaled online in-patient payments, TMH enables secure transactions via smartphones or laptops using QR codes placed across wards. Supporting multiple modes like UPI, cards, and net banking, the system eases burdens during long stays. Combined with the SPAC, it enhances operational efficiency and patient satisfaction, aligning with India’s growing digital healthcare ecosystem.

Tata Main Hospital (TMH), the iconic tertiary care facility in Jamshedpur operated by Tata Steel, has taken a significant stride toward digital transformation by introducing advanced online healthcare services. The hospital has launched an innovative online in-patient payment system alongside a streamlined Single-Point Admission Counter (SPAC), designed to simplify processes and elevate patient care.

The online payment facility allows secure transactions directly from smartphones or laptops by scanning QR codes, making TMH one of the first hospitals in Eastern India to implement this at scale for in-patient services. Patients and attendants can use debit/credit cards, net banking, or UPI—reflecting the surge in digital payments across Indian healthcare.

This is especially valuable for families managing extended hospital stays, where repeated visits to billing counters add unnecessary stress. To facilitate smooth rollout, QR code standees are placed in all wards, accompanied by clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for guidance.

The initiative reduces congestion at physical counters, frees up staff for clinical duties, and minimizes errors ultimately boosting workflow efficiency.

Complementing this is the Single-Point Admission Counter (SPAC), a centralized hub that consolidates admission processes, cutting down paperwork and delays for incoming patients.

Serving patients from Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and beyond, TMH continues its legacy of integrating technology for better access and transparency. These enhancements underscore a nationwide trend where hospitals leverage digital tools to prioritize recovery over administrative hassles.

“The new facilities are part of the continuous efforts to integrate advanced healthcare services with digital convenience and improved amenities.”
