The upcoming Guwahati hospital will feature modern ICUs, modular operation theatres, advanced diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT, cath labs), specialized centres of excellence, and comprehensive outpatient services. The ₹700 crore investment includes land acquisition, construction, equipment procurement, and digital health integration to ensure seamless care delivery. The project is expected to create hundreds of jobs, strengthen medical tourism in the region, and significantly improve healthcare access for Assam and neighbouring states.
Ambuja Neotia Healthcare Group, one of Eastern India’s leading private healthcare providers, has officially announced the development of a 300-bed multi-specialty hospital in Guwahati, Assam. The project, valued at approximately ₹700 crore, marks a major step in the group’s strategy to expand its footprint beyond West Bengal and bring world-class tertiary care closer to the people of Northeast India. The announcement was made during a high-profile event attended by senior company executives, state government representatives, and local healthcare leaders.
The new hospital will be equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including fully equipped intensive care units, modular operation theatres with laminar airflow, advanced diagnostic radiology suites (high-field MRI, multi-slice CT, digital mammography, PET-CT), cardiac catheterization laboratories, and comprehensive pathology and molecular diagnostics labs. Special focus will be placed on high-demand specialties such as interventional cardiology, medical and surgical oncology, neurosurgery and neurology, advanced orthopaedics and joint replacement, high-risk obstetrics with level-III NICU, and trauma & emergency services with 24×7 operation. The facility will also include dedicated centres for minimally invasive surgery, robotic-assisted procedures, organ transplantation support, and rehabilitation services.
Construction is expected to begin shortly, with phased commissioning targeted between 2028 and 2030. The hospital will create substantial employment opportunities for doctors, nurses, paramedics, technicians, and support staff, while also serving as a key training ground for medical and nursing students in the region. Ambuja Neotia emphasized that the project will prioritize affordability through various insurance tie-ups, Ayushman Bharat empanelment, and community outreach programs, ensuring wider access for economically disadvantaged patients.
The initiative responds to the growing healthcare needs in Assam and the Northeast, where patients often travel long distances to Kolkata, Delhi, or other metros for advanced treatment. By establishing a comprehensive tertiary care facility in Guwahati, Ambuja Neotia aims to reduce this burden, lower out-of-pocket expenses for families, and improve health outcomes through timely and localized care. The group plans to replicate similar models in other underserved regions as part of its long-term vision to expand high-quality healthcare across Eastern and Northeastern India.
“Guwahati and the Northeast deserve access to world-class healthcare without long-distance travel. This ₹700 crore hospital will bring advanced, compassionate care right to the heart of the region.”
