Siemens Healthineers Starts Local Manufacturing of Angiography Systems in India to Strengthen MedTech Presence

Siemens Healthineers has expanded its manufacturing footprint in India by commencing local production of its Artis Q and Artis Q.zen angiography systems at its existing facility in Bengaluru. This move marks a significant step in the company’s ‘In India, For India’ strategy and is expected to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and support faster delivery to Indian hospitals.

Glimpse:

The Bengaluru plant will now manufacture these advanced interventional imaging systems, which are widely used for complex cardiac, neuro, and vascular procedures. Local production is expected to shorten delivery timelines, lower import dependency, and make high end angiography technology more accessible and affordable for Indian healthcare providers. The facility already produces CT scanners, MRI systems, and ultrasound equipment.

Siemens Healthineers has strengthened its commitment to India by beginning local manufacturing of its flagship Artis Q and Artis Q.zen angiography systems at its state of the art facility in Bengaluru. This development is part of the company’s long-term strategy to deepen its presence in the Indian market and align with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The Artis Q series is a high end angiography platform used for minimally invasive procedures in cardiology, neurology, and vascular interventions. Local production will enable faster delivery to hospitals across the country, reduce lead times, and make these advanced systems more cost effective for Indian healthcare providers.

Siemens Healthineers’ Bengaluru manufacturing plant already produces a wide range of imaging equipment including CT scanners, MRI systems, and ultrasound machines. With the addition of angiography systems, the facility is now a comprehensive hub for high end medical imaging technology in India.

The company believes that local manufacturing will not only improve supply chain resilience but also create skilled employment opportunities and support the growth of the domestic medical device ecosystem.

“Starting local production of our Artis Q angiography systems in India is a significant milestone in our ‘In India, For India’ strategy. It will help us serve our customers faster and more efficiently while contributing to the growth of the Indian healthcare industry.”
