The Philips Foundation has announced a major investment to strengthen last mile healthcare delivery and expand access to quality care for India’s workforce, especially in underserved and rural areas. The initiative focuses on deploying innovative, technology enabled solutions to bridge the gap between communities and healthcare services.
Glimpse:
Through strategic partnerships, the foundation aims to enhance primary healthcare infrastructure, enable early detection of diseases, and improve workforce wellness programmes. The project will leverage Philips’ expertise in diagnostic imaging, patient monitoring, and connected care technologies to make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and efficient for industrial workers, daily wage earners, and remote populations.
Philips Foundation has committed significant funding to expand last-mile healthcare services across India, with a special focus on improving healthcare access for the country’s large workforce. The initiative seeks to address critical gaps in primary and preventive care, particularly in industrial clusters, rural regions, and areas with high concentrations of migrant and informal workers.
The project will introduce technology enabled solutions such as portable diagnostic tools, remote monitoring systems, and digital health platforms to bring quality care closer to communities. By partnering with local organisations, NGOs, and state governments, Philips Foundation aims to strengthen community health workers, enable early screening for non-communicable diseases, and support timely intervention.
This investment aligns with Philips’ broader commitment to sustainable healthcare and its ‘In India, For India’ approach. It is expected to benefit millions of workers by reducing out of-pocket expenses, minimising travel for medical care, and promoting preventive health practices.
The foundation believes that improving last mile healthcare delivery is essential for building a healthier and more productive workforce, which in turn contributes to India’s overall economic growth and well being.
“Improving last mile healthcare is critical to ensuring that every individual, especially our workforce, has access to timely and quality care. Through this initiative, we aim to leverage technology and local partnerships to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.”
