Jharkhand Launches e-Sushrut App to Digitize Healthcare and Fast Track ABDM Integration

The Government of Jharkhand has launched the e-Sushrut mobile application to accelerate integration with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and digitize patient health records. The initiative aims to make healthcare services more accessible, efficient, and paperless across public health facilities.

Glimpse:

Announced during a state level ABDM workshop in Ranchi, the e-Sushrut Jharkhand Mobile App allows patients to register at government hospitals and access prescriptions, lab reports, and discharge summaries digitally. Developed under the Mukhyamantri Digital Health Yojana, the app supports the state’s broader effort to build a connected digital health ecosystem. The rollout complements existing ABDM-enabled Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) implemented across district hospitals and community health centres.

Jharkhand has taken a significant step toward digital healthcare transformation with the launch of the e-Sushrut Jharkhand Mobile App, aimed at strengthening integration with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The initiative is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to modernize healthcare delivery and create a seamless digital health ecosystem.

The mobile application enables patients to digitally register at government healthcare facilities and access essential medical documents such as prescriptions, lab reports, and discharge summaries directly from their smartphones. By reducing reliance on physical paperwork, the platform is expected to improve efficiency, transparency, and patient convenience.

The app has been developed under the Mukhyamantri Digital Health Yojana and aligns with Jharkhand’s broader ABDM rollout, which began in 2024 with an investment of approximately ₹299 crore. Over the past two years, the state has successfully implemented ABDM-enabled Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) across all district hospitals and community health centres, while efforts are ongoing to onboard private hospitals.

In addition to the mobile app, the government is strengthening digital infrastructure through initiatives such as integrated dashboards, control rooms, tele-ICU services, and tele-radiology hubs. These advancements aim to enhance real-time monitoring, improve diagnostics, and extend specialist care to remote areas.

The state is also working on expanding digital connectivity, with plans to connect over 500 health centres through Wi-Fi enabled services. Officials believe that effective implementation of ABDM tools like the e-Sushrut app will play a key role in making healthcare more interoperable, patient-centric, and accessible across Jharkhand.

“Digital health is the most effective means of empowering patients.”
