Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu has inaugurated the Atal MedTech Museum & Library at Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), highlighting India’s evolution in medical technology and innovation.

Glimpse:

Announced in April 2026, the Atal MedTech Museum & Library was inaugurated at AMTZ in Visakhapatnam. The facility combines immersive AR/VR experiences with a knowledge rich library of over 1,100 medical resources, offering insights into the evolution of healthcare technologies and India’s growing medtech ecosystem.

Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the Atal MedTech Museum & Library at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), marking a significant milestone in India’s journey toward advancing medical technology and innovation.

The museum has been conceptualized as a tribute to Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, showcasing the evolution of healthcare from early medical practices to cutting edge innovations shaping modern medicine.

A key highlight of the facility is its interactive and immersive experience, featuring augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) simulations that demonstrate real world applications in surgical precision, diagnostics, and clinical training. These technologies aim to provide hands-on learning and a deeper understanding of medical advancements.

Complementing the museum is a digitally enabled library, equipped with RFID systems and housing over 1,100 books, journals, and clinical resources. The library is designed to serve as a knowledge hub for students, researchers, and healthcare professionals.

AMTZ itself plays a crucial role in India’s healthcare ecosystem as the country’s first dedicated medical device manufacturing cluster, supporting research, prototyping, and large-scale production.

During the inauguration, Naidu emphasized the importance of integrated innovation ecosystems, noting that facilities like AMTZ help reduce import dependency and strengthen India’s position in global medtech manufacturing.

The event also saw the announcement of new partnerships with organizations such as IKSANA and Medpolis, further expanding the collaborative ecosystem within AMTZ.

Experts believe that initiatives like the Atal MedTech Museum & Library not only preserve the history of medical innovation but also inspire future advancements by bridging education, research, and industry.

“AMTZ stands as a pillar driving transformative healthcare innovation.”
