Proximie has partnered with NVIDIA to advance AI-enabled intelligent operating rooms, combining real time surgical data with advanced AI models to enhance precision, efficiency, and patient outcomes.

Glimpse:

Announced in April 2026, Proximie is integrating its Smart Operating Room platform with NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure and foundation models. The collaboration focuses on building AI-driven, data rich surgical environments, leveraging real-time intraoperative data and advanced computing to improve surgical workflows and decision making.

Proximie, a global healthtech company specializing in connected surgical platforms, has partnered with NVIDIA to accelerate the development of AI-enabled intelligent operating rooms (ORs). The collaboration aims to bring advanced AI capabilities into surgical environments, transforming how operations are performed and managed.

At the core of this partnership is Proximie’s Smart OR platform, which integrates with NVIDIA’s accelerated computing and foundation models. This enables the creation of an “AI-native” operating room, where data, devices, and workflows are seamlessly connected and optimized in real time.

Proximie’s platform continuously captures rich surgical data from operating rooms worldwide including intraoperative video, instrument usage, workflow activity, and procedural context. This data is then structured and analyzed to generate insights that improve surgical performance and patient safety.

Through the partnership, this real-world surgical data will also help train NVIDIA’s next generation AI models, contributing to the development of physical AI systems capable of understanding and assisting in complex clinical environments.

The collaboration is part of NVIDIA’s Project Rheo, an initiative focused on advancing healthcare robotics and intelligent clinical environments. By combining Proximie’s data ecosystem with NVIDIA’s AI capabilities, the partnership aims to enable scalable, data driven innovation in surgery.

A key goal is to move toward “agentic operating rooms,” where AI systems can analyze live surgical procedures, provide contextual insights, and support decision making without replacing clinicians. This includes capabilities such as real time guidance, workflow optimization, and enhanced surgical training.

Experts believe that such AI-powered operating rooms could significantly improve surgical precision, efficiency, and accessibility, while also addressing workforce challenges and increasing demand for surgical care globally.

Overall, the partnership highlights a broader shift toward data driven, AI-enabled surgical ecosystems, where real-time intelligence becomes a core component of modern healthcare delivery.

“Powering the next generation of AI for healthcare.”
