Mumbai headquartered Unihealth Hospitals has expanded its healthcare footprint in East Africa through the acquisition and commissioning of UMC Hospital in Entebbe, Uganda. This strategic move adds approximately 30 beds to its network, increasing the companyโs total bed capacity in Uganda to 150.
The newly integrated facility is positioned in a key catchment area and is expected to function as an extension of Unihealthโs flagship UMC Victoria Hospital in Kampala. Together, these facilities form a hub and spoke model designed to deliver coordinated and efficient healthcare services across the region.
UMC Hospital Entebbe will offer a wide range of medical services, including internal medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, trauma care, chronic disease management, and diagnostic services. This expansion enhances Unihealthโs ability to serve both urban and peri urban populations while easing pressure on its existing facilities.
Company leadership highlighted that the acquisition marks a significant milestone in building a robust and integrated healthcare network in Uganda. By strengthening its infrastructure and adopting a scalable operating model, Unihealth aims to improve patient outcomes while maintaining operational efficiency and sustainable growth.
