Adani Group Unveils Massive ₹60,000 Cr Healthcare Push with Plan for 30 New Hospitals Across India

The Adani Group has announced an ambitious ₹60,000 crore investment over the next decade to transform India’s healthcare landscape, including the development of 30 new multi-specialty hospitals across the country. The initiative aims to deliver world-class tertiary care, expand access in underserved regions, integrate advanced AI and digital health technologies, and position Adani as a major private player in India’s hospital sector alongside its existing diagnostics and pharma ventures.

Glimpse:

The ₹60,000 crore healthcare push includes building 30 greenfield hospitals (200–500 beds each) in tier-1, tier-2, and tier-3 cities, upgrading existing facilities, establishing centres of excellence in oncology, cardiology, neurosciences, and organ transplantation, and deploying AI for diagnostics, predictive analytics, and operational efficiency. The plan focuses on affordability through insurance tie-ups and Ayushman Bharat empanelment, with initial projects already underway in key states and full rollout targeted over the next 8–10 years.

The Adani Group has committed a staggering ₹60,000 crore to revolutionise healthcare delivery in India over the next decade, with the centrepiece being the development of 30 new multi-specialty hospitals across the country. Chairman Gautam Adani announced the plan during a high-profile investor briefing on February 27, 2026, describing it as a long-term commitment to address India’s massive healthcare infrastructure deficit and ensure equitable access to advanced medical care for millions of citizens in urban and rural areas alike.

The hospital network will feature facilities ranging from 200 to 500 beds, strategically located in tier-1 metros, fast-growing tier-2 cities, and underserved tier-3 regions. Each hospital will include state-of-the-art infrastructure such as modular operation theatres, high-dependency units, advanced ICUs, comprehensive diagnostic suites (MRI, CT, PET-CT, cath labs), and dedicated centres of excellence in high-burden specialties including oncology, interventional cardiology, neurosciences, organ transplantation, orthopaedics, and mother & child care. The group plans to integrate AI-powered tools for early disease detection, predictive risk modelling, robotic-assisted surgery, and operational efficiency to deliver world-class outcomes at scale.

The announcement builds on Adani’s existing healthcare footprint through Adani Enterprises’ diagnostics and pharma ventures, positioning the group to become one of India’s largest private healthcare players. Initial hospital projects are already underway in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, with phased commissioning expected from 2027 onward and full network rollout targeted by 2035. The plan is expected to create tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs while contributing to India’s goal of strengthening tertiary care capacity and reducing patient outflows to overseas destinations.

Safdarjung Hospital’s critical care team, led by senior intensivists, has already trained staff and piloted the virtual model with a small cohort of discharged ICU patients, reporting high satisfaction rates, better adherence to follow-up plans, and fewer emergency visits. The hospital plans to begin full operations in March 2026, initially serving 100–150 patients per month and scaling based on demand and feedback. The initiative is fully funded through government resources and will be free of charge for eligible patients, aligning with the hospital’s commitment to equitable public healthcare delivery.

Industry observers view the ₹60,000 crore commitment as one of the largest private-sector healthcare investments in India’s history, reflecting confidence in the sector’s long-term growth driven by rising insurance penetration, an aging population, and increasing demand for quality care. The initiative is poised to significantly enhance healthcare access in underserved regions while setting new benchmarks for integrated, technology-enabled hospital networks.

“Healthcare is not just a business it is a national priority. With this ₹60,000 crore commitment, we aim to build hospitals that deliver world-class care to every Indian, right where they live, without forcing families to choose between quality and affordability.”
