Apollo Hospitals has announced a major investment of ₹1,700 crore in Telangana, planning a multi-year expansion of medical infrastructure, specialty programs, next-gen diagnostics and community health initiatives  a move that could significantly boost access to advanced care in southern India.

Glimpse:

The investment, unveiled at the Telangana Rising Global Summit, will be phased over the next three years and includes building new facilities, upgrading existing hospitals, introducing breakthrough treatments like proton therapy, expanding high-tech labs and enhancing digital health access and talent development across the state.

Apollo Hospitals  one of India’s largest and most prominent private healthcare networks has committed to a ₹1,700 crore + investment plan in Telangana, outlining a comprehensive strategy to elevate healthcare delivery across metropolitan and tier-2 regions. The announcement was made during the Telangana Rising Global Summit, where the group detailed a long-term roadmap for modernising clinical infrastructure, expanding specialty care and bringing advanced treatments to the state.

The multi-phase initiative spans new hospital construction, upgrades to existing facilities and high-impact clinical programs. Among the highlights is the planned introduction of Proton Therapy, making Telangana the first state in the region to offer this sophisticated radiation-based cancer treatment  a significant milestone for oncology care and a magnet for medical tourism. Alongside this, Apollo will expand its diagnostics footprint with a 40,000 sq ft Global Reference Laboratory equipped for advanced genetic, molecular and precision-medicine testing driven by AI-based biomarker research.

In addition to clinical investments, Apollo’s vision includes strengthening telemedicine and mobile medical units to reach remote communities, further bolstering digital health platforms to improve care coordination and access. The plan also emphasises talent development and capacity building, with a focus on training medical and nursing professionals, as well as supporting community-based health programmes under its Total Health model  which has already impacted hundreds of thousands of lives in the region.

Apollo’s expansion in Telangana also promises socioeconomic effects; the group already counts tens of thousands of direct employees across the state and plans to grow its workforce further while embedding healthcare innovation within local communities. With a robust pharmacy network and established reputation in clinical care, this investment is seen as reinforcing Telangana’s emergence as a healthcare hub in India, aligning with the state’s broader goals of modernising health infrastructure and expanding high-quality care.

“Telangana has emerged as a major healthcare hub, and our investment reflects our commitment to ensuring that high-quality, technology-driven medical care is accessible to all.”
