KKR backed Baby Memorial Hospital (BMH) has agreed to acquire Star Hospitals in Hyderabad for about ₹1,800 crore. This big purchase will help BMH grow faster in South India and add a well known hospital chain to its network.
Glimpse:
Star Hospitals is a popular multi speciality hospital group in Hyderabad with strong services in heart care, brain and nerve care, cancer treatment, bone and joint care, and critical care. After the deal, Baby Memorial Hospital will become much bigger in Telangana and will be able to serve more patients with better facilities.
Baby Memorial Hospital, which is supported by global investment firm KKR, is buying Star Hospitals in a deal worth nearly ₹1,800 crore. This is one of the biggest hospital acquisitions in South India this year.
Star Hospitals runs several good hospitals in Hyderabad and is known for quality treatment in heart diseases, neurology, cancer, orthopaedics, and emergency care. The acquisition will give Baby Memorial Hospital more beds, experienced doctors, and a strong presence in the Hyderabad market.
For Baby Memorial Hospital, this move is part of a bigger plan to expand its services across South India. Once the deal is complete, patients in the region will have access to more advanced healthcare closer to home.
The transaction still needs final approvals and is expected to be completed in the next few months.
“This acquisition is an important step in our plan to build a strong healthcare network in South India. We will combine the best of both hospitals to provide excellent care to more patients.”
