As part of the transaction, Joe Almeida has been appointed as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Hologic, effective immediately. Almeida, who previously served as Chairman and CEO of Baxter International for nearly a decade, is widely respected for his operational expertise, strategic leadership, and successful track record in the medtech industry.
Hologic is a global champion in women’s health, best known for its innovations in breast cancer screening (including 3D mammography), diagnostic testing, surgical products, and bone health solutions. The company will now transition to private ownership, which is expected to provide greater flexibility to invest in long term innovation and growth initiatives.
The new leadership team, under Joe Almeida, is expected to focus on accelerating product development, expanding global reach, and strengthening Hologic’s position in high growth segments of women’s health and diagnostics.
