In a major boost to healthcare infrastructure in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a 1,200-bed multi speciality hospital in Shirpur, located in Dhule district. The facility, developed by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), marks one of the largest healthcare expansions in North Maharashtra.
Named the Tapanbai Mukushbhai Patel Memorial Hospital and Research Centre, the institution is designed to function as a regional healthcare hub. It is expected to cater not only to patients from Maharashtra but also from neighboring states such as Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
A key objective of the hospital is to improve access to advanced medical care for underserved populations, particularly in tribal and rural districts like Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, and Nashik regions where access to specialized healthcare has historically been limited.
The hospital follows an “equal treatment for all” approach, offering cashless healthcare options for economically weaker sections while also providing advanced diagnostics and treatment services comparable to metro cities.
Beyond healthcare, the inauguration aligns with a broader regional development vision. The Chief Minister highlighted planned investments of around ₹40,000 crore aimed at boosting industrial growth, infrastructure, and employment opportunities in the Dhule region.
He also emphasized Shirpur’s integrated development model where parallel investments in education, healthcare, and industry are contributing to skill development and long-term economic growth.
Overall, the launch of this large scale hospital represents a significant step toward decentralizing advanced healthcare services in India, reducing dependence on metropolitan cities, and improving health outcomes in semi urban and rural regions.
“This isn’t just a hospital it’s a gateway to advanced healthcare for underserved regions.”
