Fatehpur Becomes First District in Uttar Pradesh to Deploy AI-Based Child Vaccination Monitoring

Published: January 12, 2026

Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh has become the first in the state to implement an AI-powered child vaccination monitoring system, integrating real-time tracking, predictive analytics, and automated reminders to boost immunisation coverage and reduce dropouts. The initiative, launched on January 15, 2026, is part of a broader push by the Uttar Pradesh government to leverage technology for achieving universal immunisation under the National Health Mission.

Glimpse:

The AI system monitors vaccination schedules for children under five years, identifies defaulters, sends automated reminders via SMS and voice calls, and generates predictive alerts for health workers on children at risk of missing doses. Early results show improved coverage rates and faster identification of gaps in remote and underserved villages. The district administration aims to achieve 100% coverage for routine immunisations by mid-2026, with plans to scale the model statewide.

Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh has achieved a notable first by becoming the inaugural district in the state to deploy an AI-based child vaccination monitoring system, marking a significant step in modernising immunisation services. The initiative was formally launched on January 15, 2026, by District Magistrate Dr. Chandra Vijay Singh in collaboration with the National Health Mission (NHM) Uttar Pradesh and local technology partners.

The AI platform works by integrating data from the state’s immunisation records, ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) reports, and community health worker inputs. It continuously tracks vaccination schedules for every child under five years, automatically identifies defaulters, and sends targeted reminders to parents via SMS and voice calls in local languages. Health workers receive predictive alerts on high-risk children those likely to miss doses due to migration, illness, or other barriers allowing for proactive follow-up visits.

The system also generates real-time dashboards for block and district-level officials, highlighting coverage gaps, session attendance, and vaccine stock status. This data-driven approach has already begun showing results: in the first month of rollout, Fatehpur recorded a measurable improvement in on-time vaccination rates, particularly in rural and semi-urban blocks where dropout was previously high.

Dr. Chandra Vijay Singh, District Magistrate of Fatehpur, described the initiative as a β€œgame-changer” for public health delivery. β€œIn a district with diverse geography and population, manual tracking often misses vulnerable children. AI gives us precision and speed ensuring no child is left behind in the immunisation drive.”

The project aligns with the Uttar Pradesh government’s broader vision of using technology to strengthen primary healthcare and achieve universal immunisation coverage. Fatehpur’s successful pilot is being closely monitored, with plans to replicate the model in other districts if sustained improvements are demonstrated.

The initiative also supports national goals under Mission Indradhanush and Intensified Mission Indradhanush, which aim to reach zero-dose and under-vaccinated children across the country. By combining AI with frontline workers and community mobilisation, Fatehpur is setting an early example of how digital tools can make immunisation programmes more efficient, inclusive, and effective.

β€œIn a district with diverse geography and population, manual tracking often misses vulnerable children. AI gives us precision and speed ensuring no child is left behind.”
