GE HealthCare Unveils Next-Gen SIGNA MRI Lineup Faster Scans, Better Comfort & Smarter Diagnostics

Published: December 1, 2025
SHARE

GE HealthCare has introduced a new generation of SIGNA MRI systemsย  including the SIGNA Bolt (3.0 T) and SIGNA Sprint (1.5 T) scannersย  that use AI-driven workflows and deep-learning tools to shorten scan times, improve image quality, reduce environmental impact, and enhance patient comfort.

Glimpse:

The updated SIGNA lineup is built around the AI-enabled SIGNA One workflow, which streamlines the MRI process from planning to post-processing. The 3.0 T SIGNA Bolt offers precision diagnostics and clinical efficiency, while the 1.5 T SIGNA Sprint uses a โ€œFreeliumโ€ sealed-magnet design that drastically lowers helium usageย  making MRI services more sustainable and easier to deploy, even in remote or resource-constrained settings.

Global medical-technology leader GE HealthCare has publicly launched a new generation of its SIGNA MRI systemsย  marking an important milestone in medical imaging innovation. The new devices are designed not just for high-quality diagnostics, but also for improved patient experience, operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.ย

At the heart of the new offerings is the SIGNA One platformย  an AI-enabled workflow system that automates multiple stages of an MRI exam (planning, scanning, post-processing). By reducing manual steps and leveraging deep-learning image reconstruction, the system promises faster exams, consistent image quality, and lower burden on radiology staff.ย

The SIGNA Bolt 3.0 T MRI scanner is the flagship in this lineup, featuring a next-gen gradient system engineered for precision diagnostics and clinical efficiency. It targets advanced imaging needs in neurology, oncology, and other specialties where high resolution and diagnostic clarity are critical.ย

Complementing it is the SIGNA Sprint a 1.5 T wide-bore MRI system with a โ€œFreeliumโ€ sealed-magnet design. One of its key advantages is sustainability: it uses a fraction of the liquid helium typically required in MRI machines, reduces power and cooling demands, and supports easier installation thanks to a ventless, compact configuration. This opens possibilities for bringing MRI services to smaller hospitals, remote clinics or areas lacking traditional MRI infrastructure.

Beyond hardware, the new SIGNA technology integrates advanced imaging applications: deep-learningโ€“based reconstruction and post-processing tools, streamlined clinical pathways (planning โ†’ scan โ†’ reporting) for neurology, oncology, and more; and developer toolkits to support research or custom clinical workflows. This makes the system not just a scannerย  but a platform for future innovation in diagnostics and care.ย

According to Kelly Londy, President & CEO, MR, GE HealthCare, the updated SIGNA lineup represents a โ€œbold vision for MRIโ€ย  one that aims to make MRI โ€œmore intuitive, more efficient, and more impactful in everyday careโ€ for both clinicians and patients.

โ€œWith the introduction of our advanced SIGNA lineup, weโ€™re delivering on a bold vision for MRI putting smarter technology to work for clinicians and patients alike.โ€
