Procter & Gamble’s flagship CSR programme, P&G Sehat, has launched a mobile healthcare unit in Ponda district, Goa, to deliver free primary healthcare services, health screenings, and awareness campaigns directly to rural and semi-urban communities. The initiative aims to bridge access gaps in underserved areas by providing on-the-spot consultations, basic diagnostics, and preventive health education.
Glimpse:
The mobile unit was flagged off on January 27, 2026, and will operate regularly in Ponda and surrounding villages. Equipped with basic diagnostic tools, it offers free check-ups for blood pressure, blood glucose, BMI, and common ailments, along with consultations by qualified doctors and health education on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention. The programme targets vulnerable groups such as women, children, and the elderly, with plans to expand coverage across Goa in the coming months.
Procter & Gamble India has expanded its long-running P&G Sehat programme by inaugurating a mobile healthcare unit in Ponda district, Goa. The launch event, held on January 27, 2026, brought together local health officials, community leaders, and P&G representatives to mark the beginning of regular mobile health camps aimed at improving access to primary care in rural and semi-urban pockets of the district.
The mobile unit is a fully equipped van staffed by a doctor, nurse, and support team. It provides free services including general health check-ups, measurement of vital parameters (blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI), basic diagnostic tests, treatment for common illnesses, and distribution of essential medicines. Special emphasis is placed on preventive health education, covering topics such as personal hygiene, nutrition, maternal and child health, and early recognition of non-communicable diseases.
Ponda, with its mix of rural villages and semi-urban settlements, was selected for the launch due to identified gaps in regular healthcare access, particularly for elderly residents, women, and migrant workers. The mobile unit will visit different villages on a fixed schedule, ensuring consistent coverage and follow-up for chronic conditions.
Ravi Sehgal, Head of Corporate Communications & CSR at P&G India, said: “P&G Sehat is about taking healthcare where it’s needed most. In areas like Ponda, where distance and limited infrastructure often delay care, this mobile unit brings basic services directly to people’s doorsteps helping catch health issues early and preventing them from becoming serious.”
The programme aligns with national priorities under Ayushman Bharat and the National Health Mission, complementing government efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery. P&G Sehat has previously run similar mobile units in other states, reaching lakhs of beneficiaries with free screenings and consultations. In Goa, the initiative will also collaborate with local PHCs and ASHA workers to ensure continuity of care and referral to higher facilities when needed.
Early community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with residents appreciating the convenience, free services, and health awareness sessions. The programme is expected to screen thousands of individuals annually and contribute to improved health indicators in Ponda district.
“Healthcare should not depend on distance or income. Our mobile unit brings essential services and knowledge directly to families empowering them to take charge of their health.”
