TrumpRx Launches! Government Portal Offers Cash-Pay Discounts on Dozens of Brand-Name Drugs for Direct-to-Patient Purchases

The Trump administration has launched TrumpRx.gov, a government-run online portal that directs cash-paying patients to discounted prices on select prescription drugs through manufacturer channels. Powered by GoodRx technology, the site displays cash prices (often aligned with “most-favored-nation” rates) for over 40 branded medications from initial partners like Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, AstraZeneca, and others, without selling drugs directly. It aims to provide immediate savings for uninsured or cash-paying individuals by bypassing insurance, though experts note limited impact for the majority with coverage.

Glimpse:

TrumpRx.gov debuted February 5, 2026, following a brief delay, offering searchable cash prices and links to manufacturer platforms or printable coupons for redemption at pharmacies. It features 40+ popular and high-cost branded drugs, with discounts up to 85% and average savings around 50% off list prices compared to private-sector rates. The portal targets uninsured patients or those opting out of insurance, integrates with the administration’s Most Favored Nation (MFN) drug pricing deals, and emphasizes transparency and patient choice. While not insurance-compatible, it provides a direct-to-patient option amid ongoing efforts to lower U.S. drug costs.

President Donald Trump unveiled TrumpRx.gov on February 5, 2026, in a White House event, launching a federal platform designed to help Americans access dramatically lower prices on prescription drugs through cash-pay channels. The government-hosted website does not sell medications directly but serves as a searchable portal displaying cash prices for select branded drugs and redirecting users to third-party platforms often run by manufacturersβ€”where patients can complete purchases or obtain coupons for use at local pharmacies.

The initiative ties into the administration’s Most Favored Nation (MFN) drug pricing policy, under which more than a dozen major pharmaceutical companies have agreed to offer U.S. prices closer to those in other developed nations. Initial partners include AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, EMD Serono (Merck KGaA), Novo Nordisk, and Pfizer, with over 40 high-cost and commonly used medications listed at launch. Examples include GLP-1 treatments like Wegovy, where patients must opt out of insurance counting toward deductibles. Discounts can reach up to 85%, with average savings of around 50% compared to private-sector list prices, according to Pfizer and White House statements.

TrumpRx uses pricing technology from GoodRx to display transparent cash rates. Users search by drug name, view available offers, and follow manufacturer-specific instructions such as downloading coupons or accessing direct fulfillment channels. The portal explicitly notes that discounted pricing is available only for cash-paying patients, with no insurance integration at this time. It requires a valid prescription, and patients can redeem offers at participating pharmacies or through manufacturer programs.

The launch follows months of buildup, including initial teases in September 2025 and a brief delay in January 2026 amid concerns over antitrust issues, transparency, and potential anti-kickback law violations raised by Democratic senators. HHS guidance issued in late January clarified pathways for manufacturers to offer direct-to-patient discounts safely. While aimed at providing “immediate relief” for cash-paying individuals, experts point out that about 85% of Americans have prescription drug coverage through insurance, potentially limiting broad impact. Critics have called it a “glorified coupon book,” while supporters highlight its role in promoting competition and patient choice.

The administration envisions expanding the list of drugs and partners, positioning TrumpRx as a key step in transforming prescription drug access and affordability for Americans.

β€œStarting tonight, dozens of the most commonly used prescription drugs will be available at dramatic discounts for all consumers through a new website called TrumpRx.gov. People are going to save a lot of money and be healthy.”
