Glimpse:

In a landmark step for immersive medical education, MediSim VR and HIMS inaugurated Uttarakhand’s first CoE in AI & VR medical simulation. The facility, launched at the 10th SIMULUS event (Oct 4-7), will offer students, allied health professionals, and medical learners risk-free virtual training, advanced decision-making simulations, and multidisciplinary skill development.

MediSim VR has officially launched Uttarakhand’s first Center of Excellence in AI & VR-based Medical Simulation at the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Dehradun.

The launch took place during the institute’s flagship event, SIMULUS (Oct 4-7), which this year was held in collaboration with AIIMS Rishikesh.

This simulation CoE seeks to transform medical training with immersive, virtual reality experiences enriched by AI. It is designed to provide realistic, risk-free environments where students and professionals can practice clinical scenarios, sharpen decision-making skills, and refine procedural techniques before interacting with real patients.

The center will be accessible not only to HIMS students but also to external learners, medical, nursing, and allied health professionals across Uttarakhand. This expands both capacity building and skill development beyond institutional walls.

Among the dignitaries was Dr. Vinod K. Paul, Member of NITI Aayog, who inaugurated the center, saw live demos, and encouraged wider adoption of AI and VR in medical education.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Deorari (Pro-Vice Chancellor, Swami Rama Himalayan University) remarked on the initiative’s significance in aligning with India’s National Education Policy 2020, preparing learners for global healthcare demands.

Meanwhile, Sabarish Chandrasekaran, Co-Founder & CEO of MediSim VR, said the lab bridges the gap between traditional training and experiential learning using next-gen immersive tech, aiming to build competence and confidence in future healthcare professionals.

“Our students and allied health professionals will benefit from realistic, safe, and highly interactive learning environments that build competence, critical thinking, and innovation preparing them to excel in global healthcare systems.”
