Oracle Health’s AI-Driven EHR Wins ONC Certification & DEA EPCS Compliance

Oracle Health’s next-gen EHR  built with embedded agentic AI has achieved ONC Health IT certification and met DEA EPCS (Electronic Prescribing for Controlled Substances) requirements, paving the way for smarter, safer ambulatory care.

Glimpse:

Oracle Health’s newly designed cloud-native EHR (v25) received ONC certification for interoperability and security, and cleared DEA standards for electronic controlled-substance prescriptions. Designed from the ground up with AI integrated into every workflow, the system aims to cut administrative burden, improve decision support, and facilitate modern, efficient care.

Oracle has announced that its Oracle Health EHR v25 a modern, cloud-native electronic health record built with AI embedded across workflows  has earned ONC Health IT Certification from the U.S. Office of the National Coordinator.  Unlike many EHRs that add AI as an afterthought, Oracle’s system was purpose-built with “agentic AI” at its core to help clinicians work smarter, reduce administrative burden, and focus more on patient care.

In a parallel achievement, Oracle’s EHR also met the DEA’s EPCS (Electronic Prescriptions for Controlled Substances) compliance standards. This means the platform supports secure, auditable e-prescriptions for controlled medications, ensuring identity proofing, data security, and full audit trails  a critical capability in the current regulatory environment.

Oracle argues that its AI-driven architecture is not just about automation, but about rethinking clinical workflows. According to Seema Verma, Executive VP & GM of Oracle Health and Life Sciences, the certified EHR is “a breakthrough,” enabling health systems to reduce friction between payers and providers, lower data-entry burdens, and deliver more informed, patient-centric care. platform’s open design means healthcare organizations can build on Oracle’s agents, deploy their own AI models, or integrate third-party algorithms  making it highly extensible.

With this certification, Oracle Health’s EHR becomes a viable option for ambulatory clinics across the U.S., especially those looking to leverage AI in a compliant, future-ready system. ONC certification ensures the software meets federal standards for functionality, interoperability, and security.  Meanwhile, DEA EPCS certification enables safe prescribing of controlled substances electronically  a big plus for clinics managing pain, behavioral health, and other controlled-drug therapies.

“Oracle Health EHR is a breakthrough we are harnessing AI to bring greater intelligence to the bedside, reduce friction between payers and providers, and nearly eliminate the countless hours of data entry required by our nation’s healers.”
