Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo has ramped up efforts to achieve universal digital health coverage by directing an accelerated drive for Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID generation across the district. During a comprehensive review meeting held at the DC Office Complex, the focus was on bridging enrolment gaps and maximising access to digital health services.
The meeting evaluated Medical Zone-wise performance in ABHA ID creation—a unique 14-digit identifier that allows secure storage and sharing of health records, reducing duplication and improving care continuity. DC Labroo stressed the transformative role of digital records in modern healthcare and instructed officers to launch intensified awareness campaigns, expedite registrations, and mobilise at the grassroots level.
Additionally, progress on enrolling senior citizens under the Ayushman Vay Vandhana Card (an extension of AB-PMJAY for cashless treatment) was scrutinised, with directives to saturate eligible beneficiaries for access to empanelled hospitals. Tuberculosis control measures under the National TB Elimination Programme were also reviewed.
Attendees included Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tahir Sajad, medical superintendents from major hospitals like SKIMS, JLNM, SMHS, and CD Hospital, along with zonal medical officers.
This initiative aligns with the national Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, empowering citizens with portable, consent-based health data for better outcomes.
“The DC emphasized the importance of achieving universal coverage under the ABHA ID initiative to ensure seamless access to digital health services.”
