Boston Scientific has announced plans to acquire Valencia Technologies, a company specialising in bladder dysfunction solutions, as part of a strategic effort to broaden its urology product offerings and strengthen its footprint in advanced pelvic health therapies.

Glimpse:

Under the agreement, Boston Scientific will integrate Valencia Technologies’ portfolio into its own urology business, enhancing its ability to provide innovative, clinically effective treatments for urinary and bladder conditions. The acquisition aligns with broader growth objectives in the medical device segment.

Boston Scientific, a global leader in medical devices, has revealed plans to acquire Valencia Technologies, a company focused on developing advanced solutions for bladder dysfunction. The move is aimed at expanding Boston Scientific’s urology and pelvic health portfolio, enabling clinicians to better address a range of urinary and bladder issues with innovative technologies.

Bladder dysfunction including overactive bladder, urinary incontinence and other related conditions  represents a significant and growing clinical need worldwide as aging populations and chronic diseases increase prevalence. By adding Valencia Technologies’ product suite, Boston Scientific aims to complement its existing offerings in minimally invasive therapies and expand treatment choices for patients and healthcare providers.

Officials say this acquisition reinforces Boston Scientific’s commitment to addressing unmet needs in urology and pelvic health by investing in technologies that deliver meaningful patient outcomes. The combined product lines will offer broader therapeutic options, from diagnostic tools to advanced treatment devices intended to improve quality of life for individuals suffering from bladder dysfunction.

Industry analysts view this acquisition as part of a wider trend where major medtech companies bolster their specialty portfolios through strategic purchases, enabling quicker access to emerging innovations and enhancing competitive positioning in high growth segments. For Boston Scientific, the integration of Valencia Technologies’ capabilities underscores a long term focus on building leadership in urological care and related therapeutic areas.

“By bringing Valencia Technologies into the Boston Scientific family, we are strengthening our ability to deliver innovative solutions for bladder dysfunction helping clinicians and patients with technologies that matter most in everyday care.”
