Lupin Unveils Anya! India’s First Patient-Centric AI Chatbot for Disease Awareness & Education

Lupin Limited has launched Anya, India’s first dedicated patient-focused healthcare chatbot designed to deliver accurate, easy-to-understand information on diseases, symptoms, treatment options, and lifestyle management. Powered by advanced conversational AI, Anya aims to bridge knowledge gaps, reduce misinformation, and empower patients with reliable guidance in multiple Indian languages.

Glimpse:

Anya provides 24/7 conversational support on chronic conditions, common illnesses, medication adherence, preventive care, and doctor-recommended advice. Built with natural language processing and vetted medical content, it responds in Hindi, English, and other regional languages, ensuring accessibility for diverse users. The chatbot emphasizes education not diagnosis or prescriptions helping patients make informed decisions, ask better questions during consultations, and improve self-management of health. Available via WhatsApp and Lupin’s digital platforms, Anya marks a significant step in patient-centric digital health from one of India’s leading pharma companies.

Pharma major Lupin has introduced Anya, a pioneering AI-powered chatbot created specifically to enhance disease awareness and health literacy among Indian patients. Launched in early February 2026, Anya stands out as the country’s first patient-oriented conversational tool focused purely on education and empowerment rather than commercial promotion or clinical decision-making.

Anya uses sophisticated natural language understanding to answer queries in simple, jargon-free language. It covers a wide range of topics including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, thyroid disorders, heart health, women’s wellness, infectious diseases, and general preventive care. Users can ask about symptoms, risk factors, treatment basics, diet and exercise tips, medication routines, and when to seek professional help.

Key features include: Multilingual support (starting with Hindi and English, with more regional languages planned) 24/7 availability via WhatsApp and Lupin’s patient portals Scientifically vetted, doctor-reviewed content to ensure accuracy and trust Non-diagnostic approach  clearly states it provides information only, not medical advice or prescriptions Personalized conversation flow that adapts to user questions and follow-ups

The launch addresses a critical need in India, where health literacy gaps, misinformation on social media, and limited access to reliable sources often delay care or lead to poor outcomes. By offering credible, on-demand information in local languages, Anya empowers patients to engage more effectively with healthcare providers and manage chronic conditions better.

Lupin positions Anya as part of its broader commitment to patient support programs, complementing existing initiatives like adherence reminders and educational campaigns. The chatbot is free to use and does not collect sensitive personal health data beyond what is needed for conversation continuity.

This innovation reflects the growing role of AI in making healthcare more inclusive and informative for millions of Indians.

“Anya is here to inform, not diagnose. We want every patient to feel confident asking questions and understanding their health better.”
