TenNR Introduces Voice AI to Automate Patient Referral Phone Calls

Published: March 5, 2026
SHARE

TenNR, a healthcare workflow automation platform, has launched a voice enabled AI agent that fully automates outbound patient referral phone calls. The solution handles appointment scheduling, confirmation, pre-visit instructions, insurance verification reminders, and basic triage questions freeing front-desk staff, reducing no-show rates, and improving referral conversion for specialty practices, hospitals, and diagnostic centres.

Glimpse:

Announced on January 27, 2026, TenNR’s Voice AI agent integrates seamlessly with existing EHRs, scheduling systems, and CRM tools. It makes outbound calls in natural-sounding voices (multilingual support including English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and more), follows dynamic scripts based on patient data, handles interruptions and live conversations, and logs every interaction with full transcript and outcome summary. Early deployments in multi-specialty clinics report 60–80% reduction in staff time spent on referral calls, 15–25% improvement in referral to appointment conversion, and significantly lower no-show rates through automated reminders and confirmations.

TenNR has introduced a major advancement in healthcare call centre automation with the launch of its Voice AI agent specifically built to handle patient referral phone calls end to end. The technology, unveiled on January 27, 2026, allows hospitals, specialty clinics, and diagnostic chains to automate the traditionally labour-intensive process of contacting referred patients, scheduling appointments, providing pre-visit instructions, and confirming attendance.

The Voice AI agent is trained on millions of real healthcare conversations and uses large language models fine tuned for medical terminology, empathy, and compliance with privacy regulations (HIPAA in the U.S., DPDP Act in India). It can:

  • Access patient records from EHRs or CRM systems to personalise each call
  • Make outbound calls in natural-sounding voices supporting multiple Indian languages and regional accents
  • Handle complex interactions (rescheduling, answering FAQs, collecting consent, verifying insurance details)
  • Automatically book or reschedule appointments in real time within the provider’s scheduling system
  • Send digital confirmations, pre-visit instructions, and reminders via WhatsApp/SMS
  • Flag high-risk or uncertain cases (e.g., urgent symptoms, insurance issues) for human follow-up
  • Log full transcripts, call outcomes, and sentiment analysis for compliance and quality review

Early pilot implementations in multi-specialty clinics and diagnostic chains have shown dramatic efficiency gains: 60–80% reduction in staff time spent on referral outreach, 15–25% higher referral to appointment conversion rates, and meaningful drops in no-show rates thanks to personalised, timely reminders. The system also improves patient experience by offering 24/7 availability, consistent messaging, and the ability to speak naturally rather than navigating IVR menus.

TenNR leadership emphasised the focus on empathy and compliance: “We built this Voice AI to sound and behave like a caring, knowledgeable front-office staff member not a robot. It handles routine calls with warmth and precision so human agents can focus on complex cases, emotional support, and high-touch patient interactions.”

The solution integrates with major EHRs (Epic, Cerner, Practo, HealthPlix), telephony systems, and messaging platforms, and includes built in safeguards such as real time human escalation, full audit trails, and consent recording. It is already live in several Indian hospitals and diagnostic networks, with U.S. and Middle East rollouts planned for later in 2026.

The launch comes at a time when referral leakage, no-shows, and administrative overload remain major pain points for Indian healthcare providers. By automating referral calls intelligently, TenNR’s Voice AI is helping close the loop between primary care referrals and specialist appointments improving care continuity and operational efficiency.

“Referral calls are one of the most repetitive yet critical tasks in healthcare. Our Voice AI handles them with empathy, accuracy, and availability 24/7 freeing staff to focus on what truly requires the human touch.”
